2017 Advent Calendars – Day 18 – City, Friends & Star Wars

I really feel like we are in the home stretch now with these calendars. How have you found them so far? Let’s see if today’s builds help form an opinion.

City

Another minifigure in today’s City window. We get another female figure, and another member of the LEGO City Coast Guard. I’m still not quite sure why we are getting coast guard minifigures in the Christmas advent calendar? As much as I love this minifigure (great face print, great torso print) I still don’t really get it.

Friends

If anybody has any idea what this is supposed to be please let me know. It’s a pole with a brick, hat and bow.  It’s on a 2×2 jumper plate. Somebody please explain it?

Star Wars

After getting a minifigure yesterday I am not surprised that we get a build today. It just happens to be a pretty awesome rendition of a Y-Wing. The Y-Wing was present in the battle above Scarif so I guess this counts as a Rogue One build. The designers have managed to get the white and yellow colour scheme and the general shape well replicated.

The Lego city advent calendars seems to feature minifigures from city themes released the same year. We had the city advent calendar last year and it had 2 fire fighters and 2 volcano workers / experts. Both themes were released last year. I guess they figure people / kids who buy the city advent calendar are likely to have purchased city sets that year, and therefore it builds on themes they have.
But I agree it does seem a little weird. Would much prefer more generic city minifigures. Part of the reason we did the Star Wars advent calendar this year.

My first thought was a frienderised version of the North Pole but after some googling it seems the general feel is that it is an accessory display stand rather than just the usual bag of accessories in the friends calendar. I prefer to view it as my first thought as why shouldn’t heartlake have its own girly version of the North Pole!

I think it’s fair to say it’s a girly version of the ubiquitous weapons rack!
