Happy Mother’s Day

Mother

I hope you all got spoiled not only with LEGO but also time to build it.

The Case of The Burger Bar Fire

10265_banner

The incident

In the early hours of January 1st 2019 the LEGO City Fire Department received a call from Burger Bar owner Curtis Brick – the iconic Burger Bar burger sign was alight.

11 minutes later the LCFD was on the scene. Fire fighter Faye Ires from Riverside Fire Station was dispatched in engine 4, while her partner Sam Maguire travelled by motorbike to the scene for some reason.

Engine 4 is the newest truck at Riverside Fire Station. It is equipped with one of the highest powered water cannons on a small factor truck.

Meanwhile the Fire Motorbike appears hopelessly ill equipped to deal with fighting fires.

Ms Ires recalls this as a particularly easy fire to put out.

“Engine 4 has an extending arm to position the water canon. We were able to get quite close to the sign. While the fire looked bad there wasn’t a huge fuel load so it was extinguished fairly easily. It was a fire that looked impressive but wasn’t really that bad from a technical point of view.”

While Ms Ires tackled the sign fire Mr Maguire put on his SCBA to deal with a secondary fire.

BOOST Droid Commander – Boost Meets LEGO Star Wars

What better way to celebrate Star Wars Day than with a LEGO Star Wars announcement completely out of left field – Boost Droid Commander.

lego-star-wars-boost-droid-commander-banner

This $359.99 set includes three boost components – a color & distance sensor, interactive motor and Move Hub – as well as 1177 pieces. Those LEGO pieces are used to construct three Droid models. There is of course R2-D2, a Mouse Droid and a Gonk Droid.

You will be able to build all three models at the same time but you will only be able to use the Boost components in one model at a time. If you already have the boost set then you may be able to use this to have two droids.

To accompany the set LEGO will be releasing a new dedicated LEGO Star Wars Boost app. The app will feature a range of missions you can program for your droid, as well as official sounds.

Overall I think the models look really good and it’s interesting to see Boost added to a licensed theme for the first time. At $359.99 this isn’t cheap but if you’ve been on the fence about Boost you may find this more interesting than the standard Boost set.

The set will be officially released on September 1st.

Check out the press release below for more details. A new site for the set should be live soon at https://www.lego.com/starwars-droidcommander
