New 2014 Sets: LEGO Chima

The UK Version of Amazon has released a heap of new set details, and we are going to go through them all for you.

A heap of new Chima sets

We aren’t big fans of Chima, but these sets look great. Some really interesting designs here.

New 2014 Sets: LEGO Friends

The UK Version of Amazon has released a heap of new set details, and we are going to go through them all for you.

First up we have LEGO Friends.

These sets seem to be a bit mixed. Firstly, it is great that the Friends girls get to go one some adventures. That was one criticism of the theme from when it was first released. Unfortunately it’s not all good news; there are still a lot of stereotypically ‘girly’ things like a shopping mall and the caravan set which talks about sunbathing and sharing secrets by lamplight.

David Jones 20pc Off April 2014

To celebrate the Easter weekend David Jones is offering 20% off toys (including LEGO) when you spend $50 or more.

We generally prefer sales without a minimum spend, but $50 is pretty easy to reach.

Don’t forget that stores will be closed on public holidays, so you’ll need to check opening hours.

Official Logo For Upcoming Cuusoo Exo Suit

Exo Suit

It’s not an official announcement, but here is a little more information on the upcoming LEGO Cuusoo Exo Suit set.

Tim Johnson from New Elementary, a blog which usually focuses on new LEGO parts, has been involved in a team helping LEGO finalise the design and packaging of this upcoming set. The post is full of really interesting insights into the way LEGO is working with the community on this project. We still don’t have the final design, but we do have an awesome logo…

Exo Suit Logo

We love that the logo features such a prominent reference to the classic space sets.

You can check out the full story over on New Elementary. It’s a fascinating look into LEGO’s process for this set.

LEGO® Master Builder Calls On Sydney-siders To Help Build World’s Largest Darth Vader™ Model from LEGO Bricks

This May the 4th weekend, Jedi and LEGO® fans alike are invited to come together and celebrate the world of LEGO® Star Wars™ with a building event like no other.

US LEGO Master Builder, Dan Steininger, will land in Sydney to join Australia’s own LEGO Certified Professional, Ryan McNaught, in an attempt to build the world’s largest model of Darth Vader™ from LEGO bricks.

Taking place at Westfield Penrith from Saturday May 3rd to Sunday May 4th, Dan and Ryan will be calling on members of the public to help them build the huge model of Darth Vader. Set to scale at close to 4m
in height and using more than a quarter of a million LEGO bricks, the model will be one of the biggest ever seen in Australia.

2m in height.

In addition, there will be exciting new sets from the extensive LEGO Star Wars range on display. Over the two days, there will also be Star Wars trivia and LEGO speed building challenges offering plenty of
prizes for everyone.

So come dressed as your favourite Star Wars character for the chance to win a LEGO Star Wars goodie bag, or just bring the power of the Force with you to join in on all the fun… and May the 4th be with you!

Right on schedule, another School Holiday/Easter toy sale appears.

Action Bill – A LEGO Stop Motion Movie

We received an email from one of the producers of this LEGO stop motion video and wanted to share it with our readers. The team behind this video have done a great job and the end result is a really high quality stop motion film.

William Shatner travels back to Elizabethan England in a giant robot to destroy William Shakespeare. Patrick Stewart beams in to the rescue and must team up with Action Bill to defeat the ShatnerBot.

Everyone at AMAA Productions put a lot of love and effort in creating this LEGO stop motion short film. We had 14 days of production to animate a 5:07 film and had no idea what we were in for.

4700ish frames later and we started stitching the pictures together and adding laser beams, smoke, fire, explosions, and more to produce a film that we are really proud of.

We hope you enjoy watching Action Bill as much as we did making it :)

Thanks to Dustin for sharing this. We are always on the look-out for great LEGO related projects. If you are doing something cool or have built something you think we should see then get in touch!
