$15000 Worth Of LEGO Stolen In Victoria

LEGO Criminal

A toy store in Seymour, north of Melbourne has been robbed twice in under a fortnight and each time the thieves have had an eye specifically for LEGO.

Police have revealed that the offenders broke into the store in Station Street just over a week ago and made off with $10,000 worth of our favourite brick. It is believed the same offenders then returned sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning and stole an additional $5,000 worth of sets. Police have specifically mentioned LEGO City and Technic, but the stock taken may not be limited to these themes.

“They’ve removed the entire glass panel from a front automatic sliding door,” Detective Senior Constable Porter said. This has lead police to believe that this was the work of a group, and that somebody involved has glazing experience.

Unfortunately for the store owner the criminals don’t seem to be quite as dumb as the bad guys we find in LEGO city; police report that the CCTV hard drive was taken during the first heist and had not been replaced in time to catch the second incident.

It is highly likely that these sets are destined for resale. We urge all of our readers to keep an eye out for sellers dealing in particularly large quantities, who don’t have a regular history of LEGO sales. Your favourite bricklink seller isn’t a likely suspect, but a new eBay account with a lot of sets listed should raise alarm bells.

Theft is always a horrible subject, but this is particularly troubling for LEGO fans. Australian retail prices are already higher than many of us would like; theft (including shoplifting) will lead to retailers spending more on security, and less money on sales.

We urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen suspicious activity in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or on their website

70810 MetalBeard’s Sea Cow Buying Options

LEGO 70810 Metalbeard's Sea Cow 01

We are really excited for the 70810 Metal Beard’s Sea Cow set, which is slowly making itself more widely available. After learning that the set was now available on Amazon, we decided to look at the options.

LEGO Movie 70810 Metal Beard’s Sea Cow is now available for pre-order, with a shipping date of June 8 2014.

We have done the maths on the Amazon pricing, and  based on Amazon currency conversion (as of time of publication) and shipping to our Brisbane Address the set works out at AU$ 349.50. This is a saving of 10% off the Australian RRP. This is not as good as a local 20% off sale.

Australian retailer Shopforme have the set available for pre-order for $350.99. This price is on par with the Amazon price, and will possible have a quicker delivery time.

Other Australian Retailers

We have received reports of a few sightings of this set at other retailers. It looks like it is slowly making it’s way to stores. With toy sales (hopefully) just around the corner the best option could be to wait. We couldn’t find the set listed online anywhere at this stage.

If you have spotted the Sea Cow anywhere, let us know in the comments.

Preview Of Collectible Minifigures Series 12

After two slightly unusual series (The LEGO Movie series, and The Simpsons series) the Collectible Minifigures returns to a collection of 16 unique characters.

It will still be a little while before we get to see all of the characters, but thanks to a Japanese blogger we have this preview picture

LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Preview

Based on other rumours, we believe these minifigures to be;

  • Space Miner – Lots of interesting printing on this figure.
  • Wizard – More of a fairy tale Wizard design, as opposed to a character like Gandalf.
  • Dino Tracker – Always great to see feisty female minifigures. This one reminded us a lot of Katniss from The Hunger Games when we first saw it. The printed arms are also interesting.

  • Battle Goddess – The new staggered skirt, shield print and helmet all combine for a great overall look.
  • Swashbuckler – Similar to the Series 4 Musketeer, but with more chest on show.
  • Video Game Guy – Some may find this a little stereotypical of gamers, but we like the printed controller tile.

According to the original leaked list, we still have the following to see; Jester, Piggy Guy, Hun Warrior, Fairytale Princess, Pizza Delivery Man, Spooky Girl, Prospector, Genie Girl, Rock Star and Lifeguard.
