It’s Real – LEGO Announces New UCS Millennium Falcon

There is a line in The Force Awakens that I think is appropriate here… “It’s true, all of it”. After months and months of rumours, speculation, fake leaks, teasers and even some real leaks LEGO have today announced the largest ever LEGO set.

Introducing 75192 Millennium Falcon

MF75192_Prod

It’s hard to put in words just how amazing this set is. Here are the key points:

  • The set has 7,541 pieces.
  • Same external dimensions as the previous version
  • It comes with two sets of minifigures – Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and C-3PO based on Empire Strikes Back. From the sequel trilogy there is Older Han Solo, Rey and Finn.
  • The exterior has all new more accurate detailing.
  • There is multiple sections of detailed interior – Main hold with printed Dejarik board. Rear compartment with engine room and hidden compartment. Gunnery station with minifigure gunner’s seat.
  • The model can be configured in Original Trilogy or Sequel Trilogy formats – it includes a round dish and a rectangular one.

Words do little to describe the epicness of all this. So I suggest you check out the image gallery, press release and designer video below. Warning for mobile users: There are a lot of images and I left them quite large so that you can see all the details.

According to somebody I spoke to at LEGO the Australian RRP is $1299.99. The set will be officially released on October 1st, but there will be a VIP release on September 14th.

Book Review: DC Comics Build Your Own Adventure

As book week comes to a close I am taking a look at one more Build Your Own Adventure book. This time Green Lantern John Stewart takes us on a journey through the world of DC Comics.

The central plot of this book is that John Stewart is looking for the Justice League, and with communications down he has to go find them in person.

For those not familiar with the character there is a brief introduction on who he is. It doesn’t get in to the entire history of the Green Lantern Corps but does provide a basic overview.

The Justice League has had a varying line-up over the years as you’d expect for anything to do with comics, but the team presented here is the basic big hitters: Wonder Woman, Flash, Superman, Aquaman and Batman.

DC BYOA Book 01

After the instructions for the included set we get the usual builder talk section that seems to be common to all of the Build Your Own Adventure books. It’s a nice overview of the different parts on offer and acts a little teaser to get your brain thinking about building.

[Read on for details on the Green Lantern Minifigure and the included set. There is even a 360° look at the set]

On Sale: 30% Off Store-wide At Shopforme

It’s not every day that you get a legitimate 30% off deal – they usually involve multiple codes or a weird overlap of circumstances. Not this deal though; it’s a straight 30% off.

shopforme 30 percent off August 2017

Independent Melbourne based retailer Shopforme are slashing their prices from today (August 23rd) until Friday (August 25th).

They offer free shipping on orders over $200, but if you are spending less than that don’t forget to factor postage in to your savings.

Head on over to their website to see what’s available. With 30% off I suspect that some items will be selling out.

LEGO Announces 10259 Winter Village Station

It may still be August but the latest addition to the creator expert winter village sub-theme has just been officially announced.

Introducing 10259 Winter Village Station

10259_Prod

This set is the perfect companion to your 10254 Winter Holiday Train set. The Station features 902 pieces and 5 minifigures. There are three sections of the set – a festively decorated bus, a section of track with crossing and the station itself.

The station features a clock tower, platform, coffee shop and ticket counter. The outside is covered in your typical holiday decorations as well as some clever use of curved tiles to create snow piles. The interior of the coffee shop features an espresso machine, cups, cash register and a menu.

10259_Back_05

There five included minifigures are: a bus driver, barista, grandmother, child and a ticket agent.

Book Review: Nexo Knights Build Your Own Adventure

It’s Book Week, so this week I am going to be reviewing two LEGO related books. First up the Nexo Knights Build Your Own Adventure Book. Be sure to check out the 360° look at the included set below.

There are a few different style of LEGO books produced by DK – from the serious encyclopaedia style books to sticker books at the other end of the spectrum. The build your own adventure books fall closer towards the “kid” end, but generally still have some great building inspiration.

This latest Build Your Own Adventure book is based on the Nexo Knights theme, specifically the 2017 sets – with the current rock villains featured.

As this is a book that comes with a LEGO set it is presented in an outer cardboard sleeve. If you don’t intend to keep it in that once you’ve built the set then you will be pleased to note that the book itself is nicely bound with a solid hard cover.

First up is some basic introductory type information – a spread on the various LEGO parts that are available, an introduction to the Robin character and the actual building instructions for Robin’s Mech.

Nexo Knights Build Your Own Adventure Book03

The book is split up over 5 chapters. Each chapter is loosely based around a different area of the Nexo Knights world. I am by no means an expert in the lore of the Nexo Knights, but the book does a decent job of explaining the various areas and their relevance to the story.

The basic plot is that Monstrox and Jestro have destroyed a network of servers around the kingdom, and Robin must travel to each of them to make repairs. It’s a very loose story just to link the various sections.

On Sale: 20% Off At Hobby Warehouse eBay Store

eBay 200

eBay are having a pre-fathers day sale with 20% off selected stores. I have done some checking on the sale page and and there is only store with LEGO on offer – Hobby Warehouse.

Their full LEGO range (over 500 items) are all 20% with the code PRESENT.

The discount code is valid until August 30th but you’ll probably need to order well before then if it is actually going to be a father’s day present.

Thanks to Daniel who emailed me about this offer over the weekend.

The Ninjago Movie Alphabet

If you have been watching the trailers and checking out the sets from The LEGO Ninjago Movie you may have noticed that they all feature a strange foreign language. Well that language is actually English, but with a special new alphabet designed by the LEGO Ninjago Movie team.

Bricking Around in Ninjago

With the sets released people got to work on deciphering the language, but LEGO have made that a lot easier with a new website for the film - ninjagolanguagetranslator.com. The site allows you to input a message using the standard English alphabet and then switch to the Ninjago alphabet (or vice versa).

I have also gone to the trouble of creating a handy guide that you can print out to translate sets as you are building them.

Ninjago Alphabet GuideWith enough study you may even be able to read Ninjago.
