The Simpsons House Available For Pre-Order At Toys R Us

LEGO Simpsons House Full

Clearly Toys ‘R’ Us are predicting strong sales of 71006 The Simpsons House. They have started taking pre-orders for online sales of the set, and they are making it quite clear that stock is limited.

The expected shipping date is late May or early June and the set is priced at the Australian RRP of $329.99. Based on our Brisbane address shipping was a very reasonable $9 (this may vary for other locations).

Those fans wanting to pick one up in store may want to call their local store and see if they are also taking in-store pre-orders. This set seems to sell out quickly.

On Sale: 20% Off LEGO At Target

Target 20 Percent Off May 2014

We suspected that we may see some toy sales following on from Mother’s Day, and it looks like we were right.

From Thursday 15th May until Wednesday 21st May 2014 Target is offering 20% off all LEGO sets.

We know that there may be some ill will towards Target after recent Simpsons Minifigures price issue, but a 20% off sale is always a good way to pick up sets. This could be the last LEGO sale that we see from Target before the big Toy Sale in June.

There are also a few Super Hero sets with a slightly higher discount

76016 LEGO Spider Helicopter Rescue – $59, Save $20 (25.3%)
76011 LEGO Batman Man-Bat Attack – $31, Save $8 (20.5%)
76012 LEGO Batman The Riddler Chase – $39, Save $10 (20.4%)
76013 LEGO Batman The Joker Steamroller – $59, Save $20 (25.3%)

Target Selling The Simpsons Minifigures Above RRP

Target Pay More

If you go to the Target Australia website you will notice that their logo proudly proclaims “Get more. Pay less.”. Unfortunately that isn’t true when it comes to The Simpsons LEGO Minifigures.

Target Australia is selling these minifigures for $6 each, which is $1 more than the Australian RRP (based on the price). Sure, $1 doesn’t make a lot of difference in the scheme of things, but at Bricking Around we are all about LEGO fans getting the best price. It’s also possible that this could be the start of a worrying trend where in-demand products are sold at higher prices.

We know that our readers are savvy shoppers. Unfortunately there are LEGO fans out their that won’t know any better. That’s why we are asking everybody to get involved.

Here is what you can do:

  • Share this story with as many people as you can. The more people that know the better. We need to send a message to Target that inflated prices are not something Australian consumers will stand for. Let’s stop the problem before they apply the same thing to bigger sets.
  • Buy elsewhere. Outer Rim has the minifigures for $3.99 each. Big W, Kmart, David Jones, Myer and Toys ‘R’ Us are all selling these for RRP of $4.99. Shopforme has them for $5.
  • Price match in store. If Target is your closest store then don’t be afraid to ask for a fair price. Price matching is at the discretion of the store itself and there is no official Target policy, so this may not work for everybody.
  • Tell Target you aren’t happy with their pricing. We have included various contact methods below. If enough people tell them then maybe we can get them to change their price.

We know that RRP only means Recommended Retail Price, and that Target can charge what they like. We still think that for a product that is widely available charging above RRP is a bit unfair.

Happy Mother’s Day

Bricking Around would like to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all the LEGO loving mums out there.

We hope you all got spoilt with lots of bricks.

If you are a LEGO mum, or have one, then let us know how you celebrated.

Check Out The World’s Largest LEGO Darth Vader

For those of you who couldn’t make it to the event themselves LEGO has just posted a video of the giant LEGO Darth Vader and Yoda models.

In case you missed the news about the event; these models were built by LEGO Master Model Builder Dan Steininger with help from Ryan McNaught (and a whole heap of Australian LEGO Fans) to celebrate Star Wars Day yesterday.

When we heard they were building a 4 metre Darth Vader we had no idea just how huge that actually was.

For those of our readers in the Penrith area – the models are still on display. You may have missed out on the build but you can still enjoy the finished product.
