On Sale: New Offers At Target

Target 25 Percent Off Online B2G1F

Target is running another sale on Toys, but this one is a little bit different – It’s actually two different sales.

The first offer is a straight 25% off all toys online.
You can check out all of the available LEGO here

The second offer is 3 For 2 (buy two sets, get a third for free). This offer is only available in store.

Both of these sales end Wednesday 29 January.

There have also been reports that the 3 for 2 offer applies on top of the existing 20% off sale, this potentially means you can get 3 sets for the price of two discounted sets. That’s a pretty good deal.

71006 The Simpsons House Priced For Australia

LEGO Simpsons House Full

The fantastic looking 71006 The Simpsons House has just appeared on the Australian LEGO Online store. Unfortunately it is priced a little more than Australian fans were probably hoping.

The Bricking Around prediction was $299.99 for this set, but the official price is $329.99. The set is available to purchase from the 1st February.

Considering that this set is $199.99 in the US this seems like a pretty significant markup. Based on our standard conversion formula (US price + 10%, converted to $AU) the set comes out at $245 at current exchange rates. Based on those figures LEGO is placing a 34% percent markup on the converted price.

As a big Simpsons fan I really hope that this isn’t an online exclusive. With consistent sales throughout 2013, if this set is widely available it shouldn’t be difficult to find at 20% or more off. It’s possible that this could be a set that shows up for the mid-year toy sales.

You can view the official store page for the set here http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/The-Simpsons-House-71006

Thanks to Bricking Around reader Nick for letting us know the set had shown up online.

Official Details of 71006 The Simpsons House

LEGO has overnight released a heap of new photos and official information about 71006 The Simpsons House. There is no Australian price information, but the set is officially being released in February so we shouldn’t have long to wait.

We can take a guess at the price based on the official US price of $199.99 though. Our best comparison is likely to be 10237 The Tower of Orthanc which retails for $199.99 in the US and $279.99 in Australia. 10237 is a good indicator of price because it is 2000+ pieces and part of a licensed theme. The Bricking Around prediction for the Simpsons House is a little higher at $299.99, as the Australian dollar is weaker now than when 10237 was released.

First Look At 71006 The Simpsons House

The Eurobricks forum has uncovered the first image of 71006 The Simpsons House.

LEGO 71006 Simpsons House

The set looks seriously impressive, with 2523 pieces and 6 Minifigures (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and even Flanders). With a high part count and licensed theme expect this set to be expensive.

It is a somewhat pleasant surprise that all of the main characters from the show are available in a single set. Recent themes such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles required buying multiple sets just to get all 4 turtles. Fans of The Simpsons who don’t normally collect LEGO will be able to get this set as a standalone product.

No details on release date or price for this set yet, but we will keep you informed.

LEGO Movie Sets Now Available

While Australia is one of the last countries in the world to get the actual LEGO Movie (boo!) it looks like we are one of the first to get the LEGO Movie tie-in sets.

The best news is that these sets look quite well priced. Our advice would probably be to hold off buying these sets from LEGO Online directly; we are expecting a lot of marketing for this movie so LEGO is going to want these sets in as many stores as possible. Chances are none of these are going to be hard to find. If you can wait for one of the frequent 20% off sales we have been having then the decent RRPs on these sets become even better value.

If you can’t wait for the retail release you can buy all of these sets from http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/THE-LEGO-MOVIE-ByTheme

LEGO Curiosity Rover 21104 Priced For Australia

21104 LEGO® NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover

The LEGO Online store has been updated, and 21104 NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover is now available.

The Australian price is $49.99, compared to $29.99 US.  When looking at a straight conversion of the US price (add 10% tax, convert to $AU) that is a markup of around $13. While not the most over the top markup it is higher than some of the other sets.

The set can be purchased from http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/NASA-Mars-Science-Laboratory-Curiosity-Rover-21104

What’s In Store? Post-Christmas Deals 2013

It’s time once again for the Post-Christmas or Boxing Day sales. Unfortunately there are not a lot of LEGO offers this year. With consistent 20% off throughout the year and the annual July Toy Sales it seems that LEGO isn’t a priority of retailers at this time of the year.

Our first offer is 20% off at David Jones

David Jones Boxing Day 2013

This offer runs until the 5th of January 2014 and excludes both Creator and Friends sets. Creator seems like an unusual inclusion, but is most likely added to prevent discount modulars. This restriction also means sets such as the Horizon Express will not be discounted.

Next, LEGO Online Store is having a clearance sale; 30% off selected sets
