Australia’s First LEGO Store Coming To Dreamworld

Dreamworld LEGO Store

For years there has been plenty of healthy debate amongst Australian LEGO fans about whether or not we need/want/would ever get a LEGO Store in Australia. At least part of that debate ends today with news from Dreamworld that they will be the site of Australia’s first Certified LEGO Store.

A Certified LEGO store isn’t quite an official LEGO store, but the differences are mainly administrative. Certified stores feature the same LEGO Store experiences – including the Pick-A-Brick wall – but are operated by a third party.

The Dreamworld store will be 350 square metres of LEGO goodness. If you are worried that the cost of Dreamworld ticket is going to make the whole thing pointless then fear not – the store will be part of a new stand-alone precinct located at the front of the park, with access from outside the park. Dreamworld passholders will get access to exclusive LEGO products and special LEGO events though.

The LEGO store will feature “The Living Room”, an interactive play area and a “brand ribbon” display of fully assembled LEGO models. The LEGO Certified Store will have exclusive sets and regular hands-on activities for children and families to experience the creativity and imagination that goes into LEGO building.

Certified LEGO stores also generally get sets at the same time as their online release, so no more waiting for exclusive sets to show up in stores.

There are likely to be plenty of LEGO fans wishing that the store was coming to a shopping centre closer to them, but a theme park location makes a heap of sense. Dreamworld is a major tourist attraction with a huge number of local, interstate and international visitors each week.

The store will open in November this year. You can read the official press release below.

Australian Price For 42056 Porsche 911 Confirmed

The comments from yesterday’s article about 42056 had a very reliable source for the Australian RRP and that price has now been confirmed with the product page on the online LEGO store.

The set will be released June 1st and cost Australian LEGO fans $499.99.

There has already been plenty of discussion about the price but let us know in the comments what you think.

LEGO’s Latest Technic Set Is This Awesome Supercar

At various toy fairs earlier this year there was a mysterious LEGO Technic car disguised with patterned stickers, just as real cars are disguised on the test track. After months of speculation LEGO have finally released official details of the set.

Introducing 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Main

Rather than the odd zebra pattern the set comes in a fantastic orange colour that closely matches Porsche’s Lava Orange colour.

This isn’t just your regular LEGO Technic set either – LEGO and Porsche have worked closely to make this a fantastic collectors item with a special collector’s book chronicling the history of LEGO Technic and Porsche GT cars included. Special attention has been given to the actual build too – parts are separately boxed for a building sequence that gives an insight into the real-life vehicle’s assembly process.

With 2,704 pieces this set isn’t going to be cheap but it’s certainly going to cost you less than a real 911 GT3 RS. No Australian RRP at this stage but as soon as that information is available we’ll share that.

twoscoops logo

Australian online toy retailer Twoscoops are having a big brand sale and when you talk about big toy brands it would be silly not to include LEGO.

The entire LEGO range is on sale for 20% off right now and for the whole long weekend (until 11:59 PM AEST Monday April 25th).

The range is quite extensive, including the recently released Angry Birds sets.

You can check out their full range here.

Don’t forget to include postage costs in your overall savings but that shouldn’t be too much of an issue as Twoscoops do offer fairly reasonably shipping prices.

Thanks to Christine for making sure we spotted this sale.

Australian Price For 21128 The Village

LEGO have updated their online store with a page for the upcoming Minecraft set 21128 The Village, which means that we now know the official Australian RRP. At 1600 pieces the set was never going to be cheap but $349.99 may be more than some Minecraft fans wanted to pay.

The price seems quite high – but is it overpriced or reasonably priced? Read on for a look at the price in more detail.

Free 30278 Poe’s X-Wing With K-Zone Magazine

The latest K-Zone magazine has hit stores and just like last month there is some bonus LEGO included.

The included bonus for the May edition is 30278 Poe’s X-Wing, which looks like a great little build.

KZone May 2016 Free XWing

The magazine should set you back around $5.99 which just like last month seems like a fair price even for the LEGO alone. You should be able to find a copy at most grocery stores and newsagents.
