Double VIP Points Now Available At LEGO Online

Double VIP Thumb New

The Australian online LEGO store has just updated with it’s Double VIP Point offer.

From today (December 15th) until December 17th you will get twice the double VIP points you normally would.

The only exclusion is the 75192 Millennium Falcon, which is out of stock anyway.

Unless you pay for express shipping your purchases are unlikely to arrive by Christmas but if that isn’t a concern you may be able to pick up some sets to build in the new year.

Will you be picking up anything? Let me know in the comments.

Target Slashes Prices On A Range Of Sets

Target 200x200

Target’s latest catalogue may be underwhelming but they seem to be compensating by slashing prices on a bunch of sets that aren’t in the catalogue.

There are some really interesting sets included in the discounted lineup including Assault on Hoth, Classic TV Series Batcave and Destiny’s Bounty.

The discounted prices are also available on the Target eBay store with a further 5% off with the code P5OZZIE. Target’s full eBay LEGO range is here.

If you are buying online or via eBay be aware that it may not arrive by Christmas.

Here are the sets and their prices;

On Sale: Selected Sets Reduced At Target

Target 200x200

I have a feeling the retailers have figured out that most of us are already done with Christmas shopping, because this latest catalogue from Target is one that I doubt is going to blow anybody away.

The biggest bargain in the catalogue is probably the LEGO Friends snow resort Ski Lift set for $49, a very nice 39% off RRP.

It’s a small selection of sets but if you want to check out the catalogue you can do so here, or see the details of the included sets below.

The sale starts today (December 14th) and runs until Christmas Eve.

On Sale: Selected Sets Reduced At Big W

Big W 2017 Logo

Big W today launch what may be their last catalogue before Christmas.

Unsurprisingly with The Last Jedi out today there are discounts on most of the new Star Wars sets. I’ve heard from multiple people that Big W are also selling the 2018 Star Wars sets, but they are not featured in the catalogue.

Beyond Star Wars there are also some discounts on some other sets – it’s a pretty mixed selection. You can view the catalogue for yourself here or see the list below.

The catalogue sale starts today (December 14th) and runs until Christmas Eve.

LEGO Build Your Own Adventure Books At Aldi

Aldi aren’t known for stocking LEGO but from time to time we get LEGO related items show up in their special buys range.

The special buys that kicked off today (December 13th) feature a series of Build Your Own Adventure books. These books are great because not only do they actually include LEGO bricks they also provide a heap of building inspiration.

Aldi BYOA 13122017

With the special buy launching today your local store may still have a lot or none, such is the nature of their specials. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to post this earlier today.

Each book will set you back $16.99

There are 4 different books on offer, including a few that I have had a chance to review:

  • Nexo Knights with Robin’s Mech (See review)
  • DC Super Heroes with John Stewart Green Lantern (See review)
  • Friends with Liza and her car (See review)
  • Star Wars with Y-Wing
  • City with Fire Truck

Thanks to Trevor for telling me about this.

LEGO Responds To Questions About Detailed Faces In The Latest Modular

Modular Detailed Faces Thumb

One thing most people immediately noticed with the announcement of the Downtown Diner modular was that the classic smiley minifigures of modulars past were replaced with detailed face prints for the first time.

I ran a poll on the Bricking Around Facebook page asking which option you prefered and 70% opted for the detailed face printing option, which means 30% want to stick with the classic smiles.

Now LEGO has issued a statement regarding the change and what it means for the modulars going forward.

Over the past 10 years our modular buildings have evolved in many ways.  We’ve added more interior details, more story-telling and more emotional triggers such as unique decorations on windows & Minifigure torsos.  We now feel the time is right to bring the Minifigure expression in line with all the amazing details now offered throughout our models.  We have always loved the classic smiley face for its versatility and nostalgia value, but are now excited to explore the new possibilities expressive faces will offer us.

Essentially it comes down to wanting to better tell the story they are trying to tell with the set.

Are you happy with the change or still annoyed about it?
