10254 Winter Holiday Train Announced

Christmas may still be over 100 days away but LEGO have decided that August is the perfect time to announce their latest Christmas set. Introducing 10254 Winter Holiday Train.

10254 Winter Holiday Train 01

Rather than releasing another building LEGO have taken inspiration from 10173 Holiday Train and gone with a festive vehicle this year.

The set features 734 pieces including enough track to make a complete circle – perhaps around the base of your Christmas tree. While not included the set can be upgraded with Power Functions to have a fully operating train.

There are also 5 minifigures included; 3 adults and 2 children.

The Australian product page isn’t live yet but reports are that the Australian RRP will be $149.99. Expect a VIP release in mid-September.

Release Schedule For The Second Half of 2016

2nd half 2016 thumb

It’s almost the end of June but we finally have the official Australian LEGO Catalogue for the second half of 2016.

The catalogue outline when all of the new sets are going to be appearing in-store. Occassionally the catalogues can also give away some new sets but there doesn’t seem to be anything here we didn’t already know about. The Rogue One sets aren’t included – just a placeholder page.

One possibly surprising inclusion is the 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS set – the fact that it appears in the catalogue seems to indicate that this isn’t a retailer exclusive.

You can check out the catalogue for yourself here, or view a list of the sets and their release date below. The set links in the table are automatically generated and not all of these sets are currently on the online store.

BrisBricks Pine Rivers Event This Weekend

After several years worth of successful events BrisBricks return to the Strathpine Community Centre this weekend for their annual Pine Rivers show.

Last year’s event saw thousands attend and check out builds from over 40 club members. The event organisers – the not for profit BrisBricks Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) community – promise this year will be even better.

Also there to be enjoyed are a Star Wars Redback 501st Garrison and Tatooine Rebel Base Clubs, amazing fan built LEGO creations and set displays, a LEGO play area, LEGO Monster Trucks interactive display, charity raffle with LEGO prizes, face painting, handmade jewellery, LEGO retailers, food and more.

Tickets are just $7 for adults and $3 for children (3-15). You’ll have to get you tickets online as no tickets sold at the door. You can get yours via trybooking.com.

There will also be an Autism Community Session on Sunday 5 June, 9am-10.30am – designed for children and adults that require a quieter, low lighting event.

2ND Half 2016 Thumb

LEGO have just updated their Australian online store, with a heap of the second half 2016 sets now listed.

The new sets cover a range of themes including City, Creator and Nexo Knights. Included in the batch is the LEGO City Fun in The Park set that had a lot of people talking when it was first unveiled.

Below is a list of all the new sets found so far and each has a link to view the product page in full.

There is still no catalogue available for the second half of 2016 so we don’t know when these sets will appear at retail.

Potential Offers For March And April Revealed

Over in the UK they have the luxury of physical LEGO stores as well as LEGO store calendars that outline the upcoming promotions. While we don’t have physical stores here, we do generally follow the UK’s lead when it comes to promotions – we just only get them online.

The latest calendar for March and April is now available and it shows what potential promotions we can look forward to.

March 1 – 31: Free Nexo Knights Knight’s Cycle with any Nexo Knights Purchase.
We’re not sure what the $AU spend will be but any of the Nexo Knights sets should qualify. The Knight’s Cycle set is set number 30371.

April 1 – 30: Free 100 Bonus VIP Points with any purchase
If you are planning on spending hundreds then you might be disappointed this isn’t double VIP points, but 100 bonus points isn’t too bad

Assault on Hoth Base Set Confirmed

Assault on Hoth Base Tease Thumb

While having a look for information about the New York Toy Fair we spotted confirmation that LEGO’s rumoured large scale Hoth set is on it’s way.

There have been plenty of hints and teases but now we have something official. Fingers crossed we will get pictures once the Toy Fair kicks off.

The set is officially called Assault on Hoth Base and it will feature 2,144 pieces and at least 6 minifigures including Luke and Han. From the description it sounds like the set will be made up of several sub-builds that can connect together in various ways to create your own Hoth Base layout. The press release specifically mentions a Wampa cave as part of the set.

With a US price of $249.99 this set is likely to be around $400 in Australia.

LEGO Assault on Hoth™ Base will Challenge Even the Most Skilled Fan Builders
Experienced builders can recreate the Rebel Force’s Echo Base from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back in an unbelievably detailed recreation of one of the most iconic scenes in the original Star Wars trilogy. The 2,144-piece building set inspires fans to build their own scouting missions with the Snowspeeder, armed with twin spring-loaded shooters, and get back to base on the speeder bike to help Luke, Han and the other Rebel heroes. The modular design enables fans to customize their Rebel base configuration, including a Wampa cave and Wampa figure.  The set features LEGO minifigure versions of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Toryn Farr, Wes Janson, Wedge Antilles, K-3PO, and more. Available May 1 for $249.99.

Set News From Nuremberg Toy Fair

Nuremberg 2016 Thumb

While the London Toy Fair doesn’t allow photos, the Nuremberg Toy Fair does. That means that there are a heap of photos online showing off a heap of the sets coming in the second half of 2016. Unfortunately we weren’t in Nuremburg ourselves so we don’t have our own photos to share but to save you some time we have compiled some links to where you can see the sets in more detail.

First up is Promobricks – over on their Facebook photo stream they have a heap of photos from the show. You can check them out here.

The second site is zusammengebaut.com – they have some great coverage from the show with lots of great photos and videos.

There are plenty of sets to be excited about, but we’ve picked out three that stood out…

New Star Wars And City Sets In Latest Big W Catalogue

BigW 200x200

The latest Big W catalogue doesn’t really count as a sale – it’s more of a highlight of the fact that new sets are in store now.

The catalogue reveals the everyday price for a range of Star Wars and City sets. As we’ve come to expect from Big W these prices are all a little lower than the regular RRP. While the catalogue only features a few items there should be some other items from the January release in stores now too.

We mentioned that this isn’t really a sale, but there are two Friends sets reduced…

41097 Heartlake Hot Air Balloon $28.00 (RRP $44.99, RRP Discount $16.99 or 38%)

41093 Heartlake Hair Salon $25.00 (RRP $44.99, RRP Discount $19.99 or 44%)

Both of these are great prices, so stock may sell quickly.

You can check out the full list of items included in the catalogue below, or view the catalogue yourself here.

New 2016 Sets In Stock At Outer Rim Trading Co

Outer Rim Logo Small

We know that there have been a lot of people hanging out for the 2016 sets scheduled for release in January. From the reports that we have read they are making their way into stores, but it seems to be a bit of a slow process.

That’s why dedicated LEGO retailers are great – they understand that people are always hanging out for new sets and are able to get new stock listed a lot quicker than the national chains.

We received an email from Brisbane based online retailer Outer Rim Trading Co last night letting us know that they have listed a heap of the new 2016 sets and all for slightly lower than RRP.

There are new Star Wars, City and Ninjago sets in the listing as well as the newest series of collectible minifigures. We’ve included a full list of the sets below. You can check out the range for yourself here.
