Canberra Brick Expo – August 11-13th

Canberra may be known as the home of Australian politics, but it’s also home to some amazing LEGO builders. Builders who will be putting their skills on display at this year’s Canberra Brick Expo.

Brick Expo returns once again to  The Hellenic Club of Canberra in Woden.

After a successful schedule change last year, this year’s show will also run over three days: Fri 11th August 2017, 1:30pm to 6:00pm; Sat 12th August 2017, 9:00am to 6:00pm; and Sun 13th August 2017, 9:00am to 4:30pm.

There is also an adults only cocktail party on Saturday night.

Tickets are $6 for children and concession card holders and $12 for adults. There are two different family ticket options available – Family A (1 Adult + 3 Children) for $24.00 and Family B (2 Adults + 2 Children) for $30.00.

Tickets must be pre-purchased online from Trybooking.

Brick Expo is a not-for-profit event – all proceeds will assist the show’s major charity partner PaTCH to purchase much needed medical equipment for Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital.

You can learn more about the event via the event page below, or the Brick Expo website. I’ve also included the ad for the show below too.

2017 Toy Sales – 20% Off At Target

Toy Sale Retailer Target

Period: June 29 – July 19 2017

Big Ticket Items: None featured

Christmas Lay-by: No

View catalogue

This may not be a toy sale in the most traditional sense – a big catalogue full of decent discounts – but it is the middle of the year and LEGO is on sale, so I guess it does qualify.

From June 29th until July 11th Target are offering 20% off their regular prices on LEGO.

Target prices are usually a few dollars less than RRP so your overall saving will end up being more than the 20% off. If you are looking to buy I suggest checking the price on the Target website and having a look for that set in the Toy Sale lists and see if it is cheaper elsewhere.

Target are also offering to price match on toys, but not beat prices.

Happy Easter

I hope everybody is having a great Easter. This is always a great time for LEGO sales and the four days off gives you plenty of time to build.

April Sales Buying Guide And Megalist

April 2017 Sales Guide

Here we go – Big W, Kmart, Target, Myer and Toys R Us. Every one of those stores has a sale on right now. It’s school holidays and it’s magnificent for LEGO fans.

With so many sales on it can be hard to know what is the best deal. Hopefully this guide can give you all the information that you need.

First up, it’s important to know that different sales end at different times. You can check the end date of the sales on the calendar below.

Loading… Loading…

Click on the links below to view the related articles about each sale

At the end of the article you’ll find the megalist. It’s every set featured in a current catalogue. The list doesn’t not include sets that would be covered in a percentage off sale. Here’s a quick tip to find the set that you want for the best price;

Is it in the megalist?
If the set is in the megalist and has a discount greater than 20% off RRP you should buy at the store listed. If it’s not listed, or less than 20% off then move on…

Is it a Rogue One set?
Myer has 30% off Rogue One sets, so if what you are after fits that category then go to Myer. If not move on…

Is the set available at Target?
If this is a generally available set Target is probably your next best bet. They have a flat 20% off and their prices are usually slightly lower than RRP. If the set is not available at Target, then on to…

Is the set available at Myer?
If the set you want is available at Myer but not Target then go to Myer for 20% off.

If all of that fails, then it seems you are after something that might be exclusive to another store. Unfortunately that may mean you are out of luck.

The information above doesn’t consider what stores are close to you. If you have a Myer closer than Target then that’s fine – there’s not likely to be a huge difference.

The LEGO Facebook page has shared pictures of the second wave of The LEGO Batman Movie sets.

This wave seems to include plenty of characters missing from the first wave. Click on the images for larger versions.

Official Pictures of Brick Headz Sets

The Brick Headz concept was first unveilled at San Diego ComicCon with a series of exclusive sets. While the exclusivity of the sets annoyed many we were promised that a full release was coming in 2017. Well LEGO have just uploaded pictures of the final sets to their server. There are 8 sets that we know of so far, and there are a few differences to the SDCC sets.

While the Marvel sets are based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of the characters, The DC side of things is going LEGO Batman Movie over more traditional representations.

Overall I like the concept. Some sets seem to work better than others but I hope this succeeds and we see more. No word on pricing at this stage. Click on the image for larger versions, and click READ MORE to see the full list of 8 (if you can’t already).

Release Schedule For The First Half of 2017

1HY 2017 Catalogue Front Small

It’s a new year, which means a whole heap of new LEGO sets. Any LEGO fan will already know that while new sets show up online January 1st, they are released to stores in batches. The LEGO Retail catalogue is always how we know what sets are hitting stores when. You can’t view the catalogue online yet but it is available via the LEGO Catalogue app on iOS or Android.

Most of the sets we already knew about but there is a teaser promising Guardians of the Galaxy 2 sets in March.

I’ve gone through the catalogue in detail and added the release month to my database of set information. Below you’ll find a list of just under 150 sets and when you can expect to see them on store shelves. There are a few sets with no images or pricing on the LEGO site so there are a few gaps in the data. I regularly update my set database so as soon as I know those prices I will update accordingly.

For those who can’t see the table below here is a quick guide;

  • Disney Moana – January
  • Friends – January
  • City – January
  • Nexo Knights – January
  • Batman Collectable Minifigures – January
  • Star Wars – January
