First Look At The Robina LEGO Certified Store

robina-lcs-thumb

The spread of Australian LEGO Stores continues with the official opening of the Robina LCS taking place tomorrow (September 28th) at 9am. Today I was lucky enough to attend an official pre-opening event where I got to check out the store.

Overall I was really impressed with the store. It’s well laid out and has the look and feel you’d expect if you have ever been in a LEGO store before.

There is a fantastic LEGO mosaic of the Gold Coast beach and skyline (created by Ryan McNaught) as well as a huge sculpture of a minifigure building a sandcastle.

For kids and the young at heart there is LEGO Play tables, a build-a-minifigure station as well as the Pick-a-brick wall. Check out the video below for a look at what was on the wall when I was there.

Chatting to the staff they seem to be pretty aware of what parts are popular with AFOLs (like foliage) and hope to be able to have a good offering all the time.

All of the exclusives you’d hope to see in a LCS were there in plentiful numbers. There were lots of Friends sets, heaps of Lunar Landers, the Disney Train and even the older exclusives like Ninjago City.

Be sure to check out the full gallery of photos from the day below.

Alceon Announces Location of Two Queensland Stores

Here’s some exciting news for those of us in South East Queensland – the location of Alceon’s first two Queensland stores.

The locations are… QIC Robina and Westfield Chermside.

It will be interesting to see how the Robina store does, being fairly close to the Dreamworld store.

Chermside will provide a good option of Brisbanites on the North side of town.

More information as we get closer to the opening.

Here’s the official announcement:

Alceon Group today announced it will open two new LEGO® Certified Stores in Queensland in 2019, with new stores in both QIC Robina and Westfield Chermside.
Commenting Richard Facioni, Executive Director, Alceon Group, said: “The opening of two LEGO Certified Stores in Queensland over two consecutive months speaks to our local ambition for this leading global retail concept.
“We are confident that brick fans of all ages will enjoy these new world class retail experiences, with signature features that are a tribute to creativity and innovation.”
The new LEGO Certified Stores have secured prime positioning at QIC Robina and Westfield Chermside, occupying 188sqm and 236sqm respectively. Both stores incorporate many custom built design features including brick built mosaics and 3D models of local icons.
Supporting imagination is a central premise of the stores with many hands-on, interactive brick experiences. Key store elements include world-famous LEGO ‘Pick a Brick’ Walls, Build-Your-Own MinifigureTM stations and custom LEGO® brick engraving.
The two new Queensland LEGO Certified Stores will become part of a global set of inspiring LEGO retail experiences, with other iconic stores operating worldwide from London to New York and Shanghai.
Mr Facioni continues: “Our two landmark LEGO Certified Stores in Queensland will attract both local and international visitors as we unveil fun and inspiring retail environments that showcase the creative potential of the world famous LEGO brick.”
In March 2019 Alceon, a leading retail investment group, unveiled Sydney’s first
LEGO® Certified Store at Westfield Bondi Junction as part of a new partnership with
The LEGO® Group, with Alceon acquiring rights to open new LEGO® Certified Stores across Australia and New Zealand.

More LEGO Stores Coming Soon

A very exciting press release hit my inbox a few minutes ago.

Alceon, the company behind the Bondi store, have confirmed a second Sydney store and plans for the rest of the country too.

The next store will be in Broadway Sydney in late 2019. The new LEGO Certified Store at Broadway Sydney has secured prime positioning on Level 2 within one of Australia’s highest performing shopping centres. The store will feature exclusive, customised design elements and brick-built symbols.

But don’t worry if you aren’t in Sydney – LEGO Certified Stores will be opening in the coming months in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. South Australia and Western Australia will get theirs in the New Year.
