Warning: Possible Disruptions

Just wanted to give a quick warning that Bricking Around will be moving to a new web host over the next few days. Hopefully everything will transfer across but there may be issues. Be sure to keep an eye on the Bricking Around Facebook page for updates on any issues.

Bricking Around Turns 4

Bricking Around Turns 4

Yesterday was Bricking Around’s 4th birthday, but with the Myer sale kicking off I didn’t get a chance to post anything.

Since the first post on June 13th 2013 this site has grown beyond what I ever thought possible, including becoming a Recognised LEGO Fan Media site.

This is also a great opportunity to give you an update on some new things on the site…

Set Lookup tool

I’ve just launched the first version of a new set lookup tool. This page will enable you to find out information about a set, including the Australian RRP. The page will also display historical sales information based on the catalogues that I cover on this site. You’ll be able to see if a set is currently on sale in any catalogues as well as see how frequently that set is discounted. The page also includes a quick link to the current sales page, so that you can see if there are any percentage off sales on.

You can view the set lookup tool here.

2017 Toy Sale HQ

With the first of the 2017 toy sales now underway the Bricking Around 2017 Toy Sale HQ is now active. As more retailers release their catalogues this will be a central place to keep track of the offers.

360° Views

A new feature that I plan to include in reviews is a 360° look of the particular set or minifigure that I am reviewing. You can see the first example of this in my DC Comics Awesome Guide book review.

Thanks to everybody that reads this site. Bricking Around wouldn’t exist without your support.

Bricking Around Crowdfunding Campaign Now Live

For nearly four years Bricking Around has been bringing you a huge variety of LEGO news, including coverage of hundreds of LEGO sales.

Keeping this site running takes a heap of time, effort and of course money. The costs of paying for an extensive team of international ghost-writers isn’t cheap, and a recent crackdown on child labour in a certain country has meant the agency I pay to check for new sales has shut down. This means that I have had to devote more time to producing content myself.

After weighing up various options to raise more money for the site (such as increase the ad count from 1 to 30) I have decided the best option is to launch a crowdfunding campaign with some great rewards. You can now help support this site while getting something out of it to.

Money raised will be used to buy equipment and sets to review, as well as products for giveaways.

One of the most exciting rewards is the $45 BUTT Brick. An exclusive 2×4 brick engraved with the word “BUTT”. A fantastic conversation starter for an amazing price.

There are even more exciting rewards on offer, so be sure to check out the campaign.

Bricking Around Now A Recognised LEGO Fan Media Site

Last week I received the exciting news that Bricking Around has been approved as a Recognised LEGO Fan Media site. After years of hard work trying to make Bricking Around the best it can be, this approval should help make the site better than ever.

Recognised LEGO Fan Media is a new program offered by LEGO to help support sites that contribute to the LEGO fan community.

Being part of the program means that I am now a LEGO Ambassador, and have new ways to communicate directly with LEGO and other members of the community. It should mean more timely news about announcements and potentially new content such as more reviews.

The content that you come here for won’t change, but hopefully things just get better.

I’d also like to say thanks to everybody that reads Bricking Around, acceptance in the program wouldn’t have happened without so many regular readers.
