First Look At Series 19 Minifigures

Official pictures of Series 19 of the Collectible Minifigures have surfaced online. There are some wild minifigures in this batch, and also some amazing ones.

Check out the gallery below and let me know what you think. There’s no official names yet but some a pretty self-explanatory.

The series will be released September 1st.

Review: Disney Minifigures Series 2

The original series of Disney Minifigures were super popular, so it’s no surprise that LEGO have released a second series.

There are 18 minifigures in the series, from a mix of Disney properties. Here’s my in-depth look at all of them.

But first – the all important box distribution. With a series of 18 basic maths hints at the possibility of three full sets and some extras. Unfortunately that is not the case here. There are only two full sets, with numerous minifigures appearing four times per box. This isn’t quite as bad as having a single chase minifigure, but it’s still annoying.

Minifigure Counts

Box Positions

Normally I’d include a breakdown of the box positions to help you out when looking for your minifigures. Unfortunately my box had about 5 packets that came loose during transit and I’m not sure exactly where they came from.

Now… on to the minifigures.

Steamboat Classics

Classic Mickey

If you are a massive Disney fan but feel that the Steamboat Willie set is a bit expensive then you are probably going to be thrilled by this minifigure. This vintage Mickey is essentially the same as the Ideas set version, just missing some silver accents. The printing is fantastic as is the moulded head. The hat is a seperate element that fits securely on. I like the addition of the steamboat steering wheel, but the technic pin connection detracts a little.

Competition: Win A Full Set of The LEGO Movie 2 Minifigures

The LEGO Movie 2 collectable minifigure series is officially out now, and if you’ve read my review then you’ll know that I am a big fan of the entire series.

Thanks to the LEGO community engagement team sending me a full box, I happen to have enough figures to share a little bit of the minifigure awesomeness with you.

I am giving away a full set of all 20 minifigures to one lucky Bricking Around reader. All you need to do to be in the draw is enter your details in the form below.

Review: The LEGO Movie 2 Minifigure Series

The LEGO Movie was a cornucopia of crazy characters and the sequel looks just as weird and wonderful. To help make more of those background characters available LEGO are releasing a new series of 20 minifigures from the film.

In this review I’ll be looking at each minifigure, providing a feel guide and also looking at the box distribution. If there’s something in that list that particularly interests you feel free to jump to that.

General Information

Normally a box of minifigures will contain 60 individual packets. With 20 in this series people were hopeful that meant each box would contain 3 full sets of minifigures, and I’m super pleased to be able to confirm that is the case. That’s right this series doesn’t have any stupid chase figures that there’s only one of per box.

Something else to note with this series is that the packets are slightly different than you are probably used to. These packets are larger and slightly thinner than the previous series. If you purchased any of the Unikitty blind bags than you’ll know what these are like. You’ll also find that quite a few of the minifigures come with an additional bag inside the outer bag. I’m not sure why some have this and others don’t. Luckily I didn’t find that the inclusion of an inner bag affected the ability to feel the contents at all.

The flyer that comes inside the packet is also taped for most of these minifigures. It’s another odd change that I can’t really think of why they’d bother.

My earlier Facebook post about these minifigures contains some more general information.

This series is officially released February 1st, so should be in-store early February.

The Minifigures

Remix Emmet

It seems that Emmet is handling the apocalypse better than most of the other characters. This version features a headphone and hair piece, coffee cup and printed phone (playing an Everything is Awesome remix). Emmet has dual face prints but both are pretty cheerful. I like the eyes closed grin.

Win A Percival Graves Minifigure

Despite the fact that everybody seems to hate the idea LEGO decided to release the Harry Potter minifigure series with another chase minifigure. This time there is only one Percival Graves minifigure per box, which as we all know makes finding them a pain. I know that some of you out there are still looking to complete your collections.

Luckily I’ve been keeping an eye out for new boxes and managed to track down a couple of these guys to give away. There are two minifigures up for grabs.

All you need to do to win one of them is to enter your details in the form below.

Happy 40th Birthday To The Minifigure

August 29th 1977 was the date that the original patent for the minifigure was handed in but it wasn’t until 1978 that the first minifigure was released. With those two dates in mind, LEGO have officially declared today the official 40th birthday of the LEGO minifigure.

To celebrate this birthday LEGO have sent through an absolute treasure trove of images and information. I don’t want to bog you down with a wall of text – here’s all the good stuff.

Competition: Win A Police Officer or Pug

Could this be the biggest giveaway to ever hit Bricking Around? Well no, not really. BUT STILL – I have two prizes that you may not have been able to find yourself.

One winner will get to pick between: A series 18 Police Officer Minifigure or a 30542 Cute Pug polybag. A runner up will receive the remaining item.

How do you enter? Just fill in the form below for your chance to win. Entries close July 31st at 10:00 AM AEST.

The Police Officer Is Stupid And I Didn’t Even Want One Anyway

The newest collectable minifigure series is out now. It features 16 wonderful party themed minifigures, each with a fantastic costume. It also features a 17th minifigure that is stupid and I hate. That minifigure is a recreation of a classic 40 year old police officer. There is only one of these minifigures per box. That’s dumb.

CMF Series 18 Police Officer Boo

When Mr Gold was released you knew that it was incredibly unlikely that you’d find one. It was easy to put it out of your mind. This police officer though – there is one in every box. That is tantalisingly possible. All you have to do is find an unopened box and feel your way to that elusive figure.

After a nice Easter break I was back at work and by lunch time I had already had enough of the Tuesday  pretending to be a Monday. I decided that I’d duck to the shops and try much luck at finding an unopened box.

I went to Big W and found only a half full box of Series 2 Batman minifigures. The shelves were fairly bare so I suspected that there was stock out the back.

Official Details of Series 18 Minifigures

This year is not just the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick, it is also the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Minifigure. LEGO seem to think that the best way to celebrate the minifigure’s birthday is with a huge minifigure costume party. I think it’s a great idea.

This series features 17 minifigures all taking part in a birthday costume party celebration. The series will be available from April.

Here they are…

Police Officer

The birthday boy himself – a recreation of one of the first ever minifigures. There are reports out of New York Toy Fair that this minifigure is going to be rare, with only one per box. I think that’s a stupid way of doing things.

LEGO Batman Movie Series 2 Minifigures Unveiled

The LEGO Facebook page has overnight shared pictures the second series of The LEGO Batman Movie minifigures.

It’s an interesting lineup of minifigures – there are only two new Batman variants, some villains and a few less known members of the Justice League. As expected there are lots of humorous little details, such as Zod holding a newspaper with the headline “Kneel Before Zod in polls”

Click through the gallery to see the full lineup.

Are any of these must haves to you? These minifigures will be out in January.
