First Look At The Chermside LEGO Store

The rollout of LEGO certified stores continues with the official opening of the Chermside LEGO Certified Store tomorrow. Located on the North side of Brisbane this store is the third for Queensland, following the Dreamworld store and the Robina one.

I was lucky enough to be invited along to a preview event tonight and anybody attending the store’s official opening tomorrow is in for a treat.

The Pick-a-brick wall features (by my count) 128 spots, with the ones out of reach duplicated. It was a really impressive selection of parts and there were plenty of parts that I could have filled a cup with by themselves. Cups are the same price as other certified stores – $14.99 for a small and $29.99 for a large.

The store also features a build-a-minifigure station, which at the moment is stocked with some great exclusive parts for making some Halloween minifigures. It will cost you $19.99 for three minifigures.

There are also two fantastic additions that you need to check out in person – first is the amazing Story Bridge mosaic. The second is a brick-built sculpture of a huge crocodile and minifigure. Both of these are creations from Ryan McNaught and his team.

If you are attending the opening you’ll be pleased to know that all the exclusives are in stock and ready to go. There seemed to be plenty of Ideas Friends sets, but they may not last long.

Anybody who spends $199 or more will receive the free LEGO Store Opening promotional set. The first 100 customers will also get a free gift.

This store is operated by the same company as the Robina, Broadway, Bondi and Doncaster stores. All share a common VIP program allowing you to earn points for your purchases. Signing up can be done at point of sale.

First Look At The Robina LEGO Certified Store

The spread of Australian LEGO Stores continues with the official opening of the Robina LCS taking place tomorrow (September 28th) at 9am. Today I was lucky enough to attend an official pre-opening event where I got to check out the store.

Overall I was really impressed with the store. It’s well laid out and has the look and feel you’d expect if you have ever been in a LEGO store before.

There is a fantastic LEGO mosaic of the Gold Coast beach and skyline (created by Ryan McNaught) as well as a huge sculpture of a minifigure building a sandcastle.

For kids and the young at heart there is LEGO Play tables, a build-a-minifigure station as well as the Pick-a-brick wall. Check out the video below for a look at what was on the wall when I was there.

Chatting to the staff they seem to be pretty aware of what parts are popular with AFOLs (like foliage) and hope to be able to have a good offering all the time.

All of the exclusives you’d hope to see in a LCS were there in plentiful numbers. There were lots of Friends sets, heaps of Lunar Landers, the Disney Train and even the older exclusives like Ninjago City.

Be sure to check out the full gallery of photos from the day below.

Robina LEGO Certified Store To Open This Saturday

Spend $199 or more on the day to receive a special gift with purchase. Not sure what the set is but I’d expect it to be the same promotional set as other store openings (40145 LEGO Brand Retail Store)

Hoarding Up At Doncaster LEGO Store

We’ve known for a while that a LEGO Certified Store was coming to Melbourne but now we have photographic evidence that work is in progress.

This shot of the hoarding up at Doncaster comes from Bricking Around reader Alvin.

Those of you familiar with Doncaster, the store will be located on Level 1, near the Apple Store.

No details on an opening date yet but it can’t be that far off.

If you spot something similar in Brisbane or the Gold Coast let me know!

Sydney LEGO Store Opens Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big day of Sydney LEGO fans with the official opening of the LEGO Store at Westfield Bondi Junction.

The doors officially open at 9am but with strong expectation of a line-up they may open things up a little early.

There isn’t any official word on this but I am assuming (based on past experience) that the first customer will get some sort of surprise.

Will you be heading along to the store? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or post your shots on the Bricking Around Facebook page.

BONUS OFFER

40145

If you spend over $199 in store tomorrow you’ll receive a free LEGO Store set. This is quite a rare set as it’s only given out at store openings. Stock may be limited so you’ll want to get their earlier rather than later.

Sydney LEGO Store To Open March 21st

We now have the official confirmation that the Sydney LEGO store will be opening its doors on March 21st (no exact time was given).

The store will feature Build-Your-Own Minifigure™ stations, a signature Pick a Brick Wall. The store also features exciting new experiences such as a dedicated area designed specifically for children’s parties – The Brick Cave – and custom brick engraving service for personalisation.

The store will showcase a variety of unique features, including those which draw inspiration from Sydney landmarks, including a wall mounted LEGO® Opera House and Harbour Bridge mosaic.

As a LEGO store it will also be home to all the latest exclusives such as the Ford Mustang. I’m waiting to hear back about any potential opening giveaways.

The store is located in Westfield Bondi Junction (Level 3, Oxford Street entrance).

Who’s going along to check it out?

LEGO Retail Design Team Looking For AFOL Insights

Dreamworld LEGO Store Thumb

The LEGO Retail Design Team have put out a survey looking for feedback from the Adult LEGO fan community.

They want to hear your thoughts about the shopping experience that is currently offered and how they can make it even better.

This relates to both LEGO Brand stores as well as LEGO Certified stores so it should be relevant to us here in Australia too.

You can find the survey here.

New LEGO Certified Store Coming To Sydney

Brisbane has the Dreamworld store just a short drive down the M1. Melbourne has LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and it’s store. Now it’s Sydney’s turn to get an exciting LEGO retail outlet.

In late March Westfield Bondi Junction will be the home of Sydney’s first LEGO Certified store (just ignore the Birkenhead Point store from the 80s).

sydney-lego-store

Here are the important points…

It’s a LEGO Certified Store

This is to be expected as the Dreamworld store is also a certified store. The biggest issue with this is that VIP points won’t be available. It’s possible that the store will roll out their own program but it won’t be linked to the online store’s VIP program.

The full product range should be available though, including exclusives.

There will be a PAB wall

The press release specifically mentions that there will be a Pick-a-Brick wall as part of the store. I think there would be riots if they’d decided to leave this out. I’m not sure if this will be priced by weight or by cups. I’m assuming per cup pricing.

The store will also feature build your own minifigure stations and brick engraving.

It’s going to be big

The store is an impressive 302 sqm area over two floors. Taking up part of the store is a dedicated area designed specifically for children’s parties. I am not sure if they’ll offer AFOL parties too.

I can’t wait to find out more about this store, and hopefully we will soon with the opening so close. Check out the official press release below.
