On Sale: Toys R Us Bricktober Sale & Promotion

It’s almost October, or as Toys R Us like to call it Bricktober!

Every year in late September or early October Toys R Us runs some sort of LEGO giveaway. This year there are two different minifigure packs on offer. Click on the picture for a better look.

Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Details

Here are the details…
Set 1: Spend $75 or more from September 27th to October 2nd to receive a set of 4 LEGO Ninjago minifigures. These minifigures are based on the TV show not the Ninjago Movie.
Set 2: Spend $75 or more from October 3rd to 10th to receive a set of 4 LEGO Batman Movie minifigures. The lineup of minifigures is exclusive to this promotion.

These packs are not available to purchase separately.

They also have a modest sale on to make spending that $75 a little more tempting. You can view the included sets below, or view the catalogue for yourself here. The sale runs for the same period as the promotion – from September 27th until October 10th. Note that Toys R Us sales do start online a day early (tonight) but you may not get the Ninjago minifigures until tomorrow.

Where To Buy The LEGO Batman Movie

The LEGO Batman Movie is officially out on home media from tomorrow. There are various different formats on offer and some retailers also offering bonuses. In the end there are a few factors what will determine your best choice.

Unfortunately it seems that Australia is not getting the version that comes with a Batgirl minifigure. Luckily it’s not all bad news with other offers available.

JB Hi-Fi

JB Batwing Bonus

With an version of the film you will receive a free Batwing polybag. The website is calling this a bonus minifigure but the picture clearly shows 30524 The Mini Batwing which does not include a minifigure. I have heard multiple reports that JB were selling the movie yesterday, so you may be able to get it today.

Sanity LEGO Batman Bonus

On offer is a pre-order bonus of 30523 The Joker Battle Training, which includes a Joker minifgure and brick-built Batman training dummy (it includes a cowl but not a complete Batman). This bonus is listed as a pre-order bonus so you may want to get in contact with your local store and see if you can get hold of it.

Big W

Big W LEGO Batman Bonus

The offer from Big W is a little vague. The toy sale catalogue mentions a bonus activity set with various versions of the film, but it doesn’t specifically say what is included in the activity set. It looks like from the image that there is no LEGO included.

New LEGO Batman Movie Sets Announced

The LEGO Facebook page has shared pictures of the second wave of The LEGO Batman Movie sets.

This wave seems to include plenty of characters missing from the first wave. Click on the images for larger versions.

Official Pictures of Brick Headz Sets

The Brick Headz concept was first unveilled at San Diego ComicCon with a series of exclusive sets. While the exclusivity of the sets annoyed many we were promised that a full release was coming in 2017. Well LEGO have just uploaded pictures of the final sets to their server. There are 8 sets that we know of so far, and there are a few differences to the SDCC sets.

While the Marvel sets are based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of the characters, The DC side of things is going LEGO Batman Movie over more traditional representations.

Overall I like the concept. Some sets seem to work better than others but I hope this succeeds and we see more. No word on pricing at this stage. Click on the image for larger versions, and click READ MORE to see the full list of 8 (if you can’t already).

Australians Will Have To Wait A Lot Longer Than Most To See The LEGO Batman Movie

LEGO Batman Movie Thumb

Graham Burke, the co-CEO of Village Roadshow, is a liar. On September 9th 2014 Mr Burke told the Online Copyright Infringement Forum that holding the LEGO Movie back 54 days was a mistake. He sat on stage and told the gathered representatives (including now PM Malcolm Turnbull) that it wouldn’t happen again. He lied. It’s happening again.

“We made one hell of a mistake with LEGO. It was an Australian film, we financed it together with Warner Brothers. It was made here in Kings Cross, in Australia. Because it was so important, we held it for a holiday period. It was a disaster. It caused it to be pirated very widely. And as a consequence, no more.

Our policy go forward, is that all of our movies will release day and date with the United States”

Just a few years later and here we are. The Australian opening of The LEGO Batman Movie has officially been confirmed for March 30th 2017. That is 48 days after the US opening. That is certainly not day and date with the US.

Update: After a few people suggested doing so, I’ve created a change.org petition to see if we can make a difference. You can sign the petition here.

New LEGO Batman Movie Trailer

LEGO Batman Movie Thumb

The first two teasers for The LEGO Batman Movie already had people pretty excited for the film, now we have a longer trailer to keep that hype going.

This new trailer features a lot of action as well as our first look at Robin and the Joker.

We now know that in the film Bruce Wayne adopts a young Dick Grayson at a charity auction. Still no official details on the role Batgirl will play in the film.

Here is the official synopsis; In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Two LEGO Batman Movie Sets Revealed At SDCC

San Diego ComicCon just wouldn’t be the same without some new LEGO set news.

LEGO have just shared details of two new sets that will be launching with the highly anticipated LEGO Batman Movie.

The Batmobile

LEGO Batman Movie The Batmobile
The set features Batman, Robin, Man-Bat, and the Kabuki Twins. Batman looks great with his utility belt and Robin’s design is interesting to say the least. The Kabuki Twins were Penguin henchmen in The Batman cartoon so I’m surprised to see Man-Bat appear instead.

The Batmobile is different from the one seen in The LEGO Movie. We’ll have to wait for the film to see the story behind its design.

The Joker’s Notorious Lowrider

The LEGO Batman Movie Joker's Notorious Lowrider
Possibly the better of the two sets, the Joker Lowrider looks awesome. A great mix of bright colours and patterns.

The set also has some great minifigures; The Joker, Batgirl, Harley Quinn. All three figures have great printing.
