Hoarding Up At Doncaster LEGO Store

We’ve known for a while that a LEGO Certified Store was coming to Melbourne but now we have photographic evidence that work is in progress.

This shot of the hoarding up at Doncaster comes from Bricking Around reader Alvin.

Those of you familiar with Doncaster, the store will be located on Level 1, near the Apple Store.

No details on an opening date yet but it can’t be that far off.

If you spot something similar in Brisbane or the Gold Coast let me know!

Free LEGO Picnic Blanket With Orders Over $249

This one is not going to be a hit with everybody, but I think it’s pretty cool.

Spend over $249 on LEGO and you’ll get a free LEGO branded picnic blanket.

This offer ends August 25th. According to the site the Tote Bag offer is still live until the 14th so if you order today or tomorrow you may get both.

You can view the terms of the offer here.

I think it’s interesting that LEGO is dabbling in the lifestyle type promotional items a little more. Let me know what you think.

Coles To Roll Out In-Store LEGO Zones – Including Pick-a-brick

If you are regular user of Flybuys you may have spotted an interesting offer recently – 700 bonus points when you purchase The LEGO Movie 2 sets. It seemed like a weird offer from Coles because they aren’t known as a LEGO retailer. Well the news that I received over the weekend helps explain the promotion.

UPDATE: Sorry everybody! Unfortunately this is an April Fool’s Day post. It would be great if it was true though. I’ve had to pull the plug on this a little early because apparently Coles has been getting calls about this.

Coles is going to be rolling out special LEGO Zones nationwide. The LEGO Zones will form a small section of the store and offer a limited selection of LEGO products and most interestingly a Pick-a-brick experience.

Unfortunately this is not every store. The LEGO Zones will be taking the place of Coles Mix clothing sections (which is going online only). You can see a list of stores that currently stock the Mix range here.

The LEGO Zones won’t be opening until the second half of 2019 so there are still plenty of details we don’t know, such as pricing or selection for the PaB offering.

Here’s what Coles had to say about the plans:

The success of our Coles Little Shop™ and Coles Fresh Stikeez™ promotions has shown us that families are always looking for ways to add a sense of fun to their grocery shopping trips. This new partnership with The LEGO Group will give LEGO™ fans young and old a chance to purchase a great range of sets in-store. The in-store pick-a-brick experience is sure to be another popular addition.

Stores have started stocking an improved range of LEGO™ sets now with the new LEGO Zones to roll out in the second half of 2019. We can’t wait to share more details with our customers soon.

For those of you already looking for some LEGO™ fun we are currently offering a great flybuys promotion on The LEGO Movie 2 sets, with 700 bonus points available.

Sydney LEGO Store To Open March 21st

We now have the official confirmation that the Sydney LEGO store will be opening its doors on March 21st (no exact time was given).

The store will feature Build-Your-Own Minifigure™ stations, a signature Pick a Brick Wall. The store also features exciting new experiences such as a dedicated area designed specifically for children’s parties – The Brick Cave – and custom brick engraving service for personalisation.

The store will showcase a variety of unique features, including those which draw inspiration from Sydney landmarks, including a wall mounted LEGO® Opera House and Harbour Bridge mosaic.

As a LEGO store it will also be home to all the latest exclusives such as the Ford Mustang. I’m waiting to hear back about any potential opening giveaways.

The store is located in Westfield Bondi Junction (Level 3, Oxford Street entrance).

Who’s going along to check it out?

You can read the full press release below.

LEGO Retail Design Team Looking For AFOL Insights

Dreamworld LEGO Store Thumb

The LEGO Retail Design Team have put out a survey looking for feedback from the Adult LEGO fan community.

They want to hear your thoughts about the shopping experience that is currently offered and how they can make it even better.

This relates to both LEGO Brand stores as well as LEGO Certified stores so it should be relevant to us here in Australia too.

You can find the survey here.

New LEGO Certified Store Coming To Sydney

Brisbane has the Dreamworld store just a short drive down the M1. Melbourne has LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and it’s store. Now it’s Sydney’s turn to get an exciting LEGO retail outlet.

In late March Westfield Bondi Junction will be the home of Sydney’s first LEGO Certified store (just ignore the Birkenhead Point store from the 80s).

Here are the important points…

It’s a LEGO Certified Store

This is to be expected as the Dreamworld store is also a certified store. The biggest issue with this is that VIP points won’t be available. It’s possible that the store will roll out their own program but it won’t be linked to the online store’s VIP program.

The full product range should be available though, including exclusives.

There will be a PAB wall

The press release specifically mentions that there will be a Pick-a-Brick wall as part of the store. I think there would be riots if they’d decided to leave this out. I’m not sure if this will be priced by weight or by cups. I’m assuming per cup pricing.

The store will also feature build your own minifigure stations and brick engraving.

It’s going to be big

The store is an impressive 302 sqm area over two floors. Taking up part of the store is a dedicated area designed specifically for children’s parties. I am not sure if they’ll offer AFOL parties too.

I can’t wait to find out more about this store, and hopefully we will soon with the opening so close. Check out the official press release below.

The Dreamworld LEGO Store Turns One This Sunday

On January 28th 2017 the Dreamworld LEGO store opened it’s doors to the public. The first certified LEGO store in the country. Now, a year later they are having a special event to celebrate the store’s first birthday. The best bit is that you get the gifts.

If you spend $199 or more in-store on the day you will receive the exclusive 40145 LEGO Brand Retail Store set. This is a set that is very hard to track down. It also happens to be the same set that was given out for the grand opening. There is a limited amount of stock of the giveaway so I’d aim to get there early rather than late.

Younger LEGO fans will also be able to meet characters from NINJAGO and LEGO City on the day (9am – 12pm).

You May Be Able To Buy A Millennium Falcon Tomorrow

Unfortunately this is one just for people in Melbourne and the Brisbane/Gold Coast area… both the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Chadstone and the Dreamworld LEGO Store have confirmed that they will have stock of the 75192 Millennium Falcon set tomorrow.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne

The store’s Facebook page has confirmed that they will have 45 of the sets available with a limit of 1 per person. Stock is first in first served.

The store will be opening early at 8:30am but chances are you will need to line up early.

Dreamworld LEGO Store

The store manager has confirmed that they will have “more than 45″ units available when the doors open at 9am tomorrow.

They will also have a limit of 1 per person and first in first served.

Remember the store is separate from the park.

Both of these options are likely to be extremely popular. Good luck to those of you who are trying to get your hands on a set. I’d love for you to share some line pictures on the Bricking Around Facebook page if you happen to be heading to either location.

Dreamworld LEGO Store Looking For New Manager

Dreamworld LEGO Store Thumb

Do you live on or around the Gold Coast, have retail experience and a passion for LEGO? The Dreamworld LEGO store is currently advertising for a new store manager.

While it’s not quite getting paid to play with LEGO all day you will still have an opportunity to be around the product you love. You’ll also be able to help other LEGO fans.

The ad specifically mentions that they are looking for somebody with “a solid understanding of the retail environment coupled with pride and passion for both Dreamworld and the LEGO product offering”.

If that sounds like you then you should check out the job ad over on Seek. The full ad has a lot more information about who they are looking for.

R2-D2 Polybag Available At Dreamworld

Dreamworld are holding their annual Stormtrooper event this weekend, and to get in on the celebrations the LEGO store will be offering the Brick-built R2-D2 polybag.

Dreamworld R2-D2 Polybag

You’ll be able to get yours from today (Saturday May 27th) when you spend $120 or more.

This offer will run as long as stock lasts so it could go quickly or run for a little while, it’s hard to know how much stock there is.
