BOOST Droid Commander – Boost Meets LEGO Star Wars

What better way to celebrate Star Wars Day than with a LEGO Star Wars announcement completely out of left field – Boost Droid Commander.

lego-star-wars-boost-droid-commander-banner

This $359.99 set includes three boost components – a color & distance sensor, interactive motor and Move Hub – as well as 1177 pieces. Those LEGO pieces are used to construct three Droid models. There is of course R2-D2, a Mouse Droid and a Gonk Droid.

You will be able to build all three models at the same time but you will only be able to use the Boost components in one model at a time. If you already have the boost set then you may be able to use this to have two droids.

To accompany the set LEGO will be releasing a new dedicated LEGO Star Wars Boost app. The app will feature a range of missions you can program for your droid, as well as official sounds.

Overall I think the models look really good and it’s interesting to see Boost added to a licensed theme for the first time. At $359.99 this isn’t cheap but if you’ve been on the fence about Boost you may find this more interesting than the standard Boost set.

The set will be officially released on September 1st.

All The 2018 Star Wars Day Offers

Star Wars Day is here again!

Sure May The 4th may not have the same mainstream appeal as something like Christmas, but for LEGO Star Wars fans it’s still a great day.

Here is a quick round-up of all the offers I’ve found so far.

LEGO Online – Double VIP Points, Y-Wing and Mini BB-8

For most people the best offer is going to be going to LEGO’s online store. You aren’t going to get discounts but you will get some bonuses.

75181 Y-Wing Starfighter is officially released at 8am AEST. The set will cost you $299.99 and you can get yours here.

On Sale: 20% Off Star Wars LEGO At Amazon Australia

Amazon Australia Thumb

There was a lot of excitement when Amazon launched in Australia but since then things haven’t actually been that exciting. This new offer is probably the first time we’ve seen a sale that competes with the local bricks and mortar stores.

To celebrate Star Wars day Amazon AU are offering 20% off all LEGO Star Wars sets from today until 11:59 PM (AEDT) on May 9th.

This offer is only valid on items that are being sold by Amazon themselves. It won’t apply to third party sellers using the Amazon platform. This link should have all of the relevant listings.

There are also two sets that have deeper discounts;

Both of those are great prices.

Thanks to Wade for the information.

Dreamworld LEGO Store To Offer BB-8 Polybag on Star Wars Day

In an interesting development I have learned that the Dreamworld LEGO store will be offering the same May The 4th promotion as the online LEGO store.

What exactly is that promotion? Well if you spend over the set amount (I’ve heard it’s $120 at Dreamworld but haven’t been able to confirm) you’ll receive this adorable little BB-8 Polybag.

The store has also indicated that they will have the UCS Y-Wing available for purchase too.

Having the same promotion at the same time as online is a first for the store. It’s definitely a good option if you are in the area and wanting a Y-Wing. Stock will be limited so may not last all day.

Thanks to Jeremy from RebelScum for sharing this with me.

Star Wars Day – May The 4th – is only a few days away now and to celebrate LEGO have gone live with their LEGO Star Wars offers.

There are a few different things happening, so here are the details and the terms of each.

Free R2-D2 Set

May 4th 2017 Free Brick Built R2-D2

Spend $120 or over on LEGO Star Wars sets between now (April 29th) and May 6th to get this free brick-built R2-D2 set. As usual this is while stocks last and one per household. Only valid for phone and internet orders. Not available at Dreamworld or LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne.

10% Off LEGO Star Wars

May 4th 2017 Offer 10 Off

With so many retail sales on in Australia this offer feels very underwhelming. From today (April 29th) until May 6th 2017 you can get 10% off LEGO Star Wars sets, excluding the Snowspeeder.

With other regions getting selected sets for 40% off this 10% deal is unlikely to win people over by itself.

Thanks to everybody that let me know about this, I had a busy day and didn’t get time to post it this morning.

Build A Giant Death Star At Westfield Warringah This Weekend

May 4th 2017 Build Event Thumb

To celebrate Star Wars Day (May the 4th) and the 40th anniversary of Star Wars LEGO Australia are building the southern hemisphere’s biggest Death Star.

American LEGO Master Builder, Chris Steininger will be in charge of construction, with plenty of hands on help from LEGO fans.

Once the model is complete you’ll be able to see the Death Star explode into hundreds of LEGO bricks right in front of your eyes thanks to augmented reality technology.

The event runs on Saturday April 29th and Sunday April 30th at Westfield Warringah Mall on Ground Level (outside Myer)

Even without forming an unlikely band of rebels we’ve managed to get a sneak peak at the Death Star plans – this thing is going to be huge.
