On Sale: Buy One, Get One Half Price At Toys R Us

It’s school holiday time so we should be on the lookout for sales this week, and right on schedule Toys R Us is back with a new offer.

From tomorrow (tonight online) April 4th Toys R Us are offering buy one, get one half price on all LEGO except the UCS Millennium Falcon. This sale ends Tuesday April 24th.

Toys R Us April 4 2018

It’s great that this is a nice and broad sale that will allow you to mix and match across themes.

Remember that these sales always work with the lowest priced set being the one reduced. You may need to split your purchases to get as close as possible to the maximum 25% discount.

As an added bonus if you spend $200 or more you’ll get the opportunity to get a LEGO brick storage tub for $15.

You can view the catalogue for yourself here.

On Sale: Toys R Us Secret VIP Savings

I am really bad at keeping secrets – for example Toys R Us sent out the details to a secret VIP offer tonight and here I am sharing it with you.

Using the code SECRET18 you can get a discount off your purchase; the exact amount you will save will depend on how much you are spending.

Toys R Us March 27 Secret VIP

  • Spend $100 and save $20
  • Spend $150 and save $35
  • Spend $200 and save $50

These are set thresholds rather than a percentage off. If you spend $145 for example you will only get $20 off and your discount won’t go above $50, even if you spend thousands.

The email says that this VIP Secret sale starts Wednesday March 28th and ends Monday April 2nd, but the code is working online right now.

This offer should combine nicely with the online sale they currently have.

Thanks to those who made sure I hadn’t missed this.

There are some large sets on the list and the standout is probably the Taj Mahal for $399.93. Most of the other sets are 25% to 30% percent off.

As this is an online only sale you’ll need to consider postage, but some sets will automatically qualify for the free shipping that Toys R Us have now started.

The sale starts today (March 21st) and runs until March 27th.

You can view the full list below and find them on the Toys R Us website here.

What do you do if you are a store and everybody is saying that you are doomed? You try and get people through the door, and a 20% off everything sale is a pretty good way to do that.

Toys R Us have just pushed out an email promising 20% off all full priced items. This offer starts online now and will be in-store on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (March 16 – 18).

Toys R Us Australia Responds To Store Closures

The global brand Toys R Us is in trouble. All American and UK stores are going to be closed in the coming months. It is a devastating move that will leave thousands of people without jobs.

When the US arm of Toys R Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September last year it was positioned as a move to restructure the business, not a step towards shutting it down. We were told that the move wouldn’t impact the Australian operation. We now know that the restructuring either didn’t happen or didn’t work and now the stores are closing.

The closure of all of the UK and US stores has huge implications for the Australian business. According to financial reports Toys ‘R’ Us Australia lost $7.6 million in the 12 months to January 28, 2017. The year before that was a $9 million loss. The Australian business’ most recent financial statements and reports, filed in June 2016, warn that its future relied on the financial support of its American parent company. That American company is closing all of it’s stores.

In an attempt to ease growing concerns Toys R Us Australia have issued a statement on their Facebook page. It reads;

To our Valued Customers

While we are saddened by the news regarding our U.S. operations, in Australia we remain committed to delivering the best products, services and experiences possible to the many Toys”R”Us kids who have supported our business throughout the past 25 years.

We are working through a range of options for our business locally and as always will relentlessly strive towards bringing fun, joy and happiness to the hearts and minds of our customers for many more years to come.

Our stores remain open and our amazing staff are ready to serve you!
Our Gift Cards, VIP club points, Layby, returns policy and other services remain unchanged, however if you have any worries at all please reach out to our customer service team for more information.

There is one line in this statement that particularly stands out – “We are working through a range of options”. Obviously we have no way of knowing what those options are but in light of what is happening in the rest of the world it would be naive to think that closure wasn’t at least a possibility.

Should you be avoiding shopping at Toys R Us? I don’t think so. If you are buying LEGO there is no real concern about the store you buy it from closing down. Missing and broken parts can be handled by LEGO directly. The only thing I would say is that maybe it’s an idea to be cautious with gift cards and lay-bys. Those are always the things that catch people out when a store closes. If Toys R Us Australia does go into administration your gift cards may instantly become worthless.

Toys R Us Australia reportedly employs over 2,700 people in Australia. My thoughts are with those people and I honestly hope that Toys R Us Australia can find a solution to this difficult situation.

75192 Millennium Falcon Now Available For Pre-Order From Toys R Us

It seems that slowly the UCS Millennium Falcon is becoming less impossible to buy. The latest option is to pre-order the set from Toys R Us. They are charging RRP but you will also need to add in postage.

The catch that may make this less appealing is that the item is due for delivery in March. If you are happy to wait then it is an option worth considering. You’ll also get Toys R Us VIP points worth about $10.

Thanks to David for letting me know about this.

On Sale: Buy One, Get One Half Price At Toys R Us

Toys R US Logo 200px

With all the excitement yesterday with Millennium Falcons and the Ship in a Bottle set I completely forgot to post about the Toys R Us sale that kicks off today.

Toys R Us are offering buy one get one half price on all LEGO from today (January 11th) until January 30th.

If you buy two identically priced items that works out to 25% off RRP.

These sales always apply the discount to the lowest priced item, so if you are buying multiple sets you may need to split it over multiple transactions to make the most of the offer.

You can find their online LEGO page here or of course head in-store. Stores should hopefully have some of the January sets on shelves now.

On Sale: 20% Off At Toys R Us

Toys R Us sent out an email earlier tonight to their subscribers with news of a new pre-Christmas offer. Using the provided voucher you can get 20% off any full priced item.

The offer starts tonight online (use the code SANTA at checkout) or tomorrow (December 8th) in-store. If you are shopping in-store you will need the barcode below. Click on the image below for a larger version.

Toys R Us 20percent Off December 7 2017

This offer runs until Sunday December 10th.

Toys R Us also have a catalogue out with some sets on sale, which means you won’t be able to get the 20% off those items. The catalogue runs until December 24th 2017. You can view a copy of it here or see the list of sets below.

On Sale: Selected Sets Reduced At Toys R Us

The latest Toys R Us catalogue kicks off today and for some odd reason it features two identical pages of LEGO sets on sale. I am guessing it’s some sort of glitch.

With so many sales on lately this is hardly going to blow people away, as it’s a fairly small selection with modest discounts.

The sale runs from today (November 29th) until December 12th.

You can check out the catalogue for yourself here, or as usual see the list of sets below.

On Sale: 20% Off At Toys R Us

Toys R Us sent out an email yesterday afternoon with details of a slightly unexpected offer.

Until Sunday (November 19th) you can get 20% off all full priced items. You’ll need to use the barcode that was sent out (below) or use the code MATE on the online store.

TRU 20percent Off November 2017

“But wait, doesn’t Toys R Us currently have a buy one get one half price sale on?” you may be thinking to yourself. Well you are right, and this offer kind of stacks with that one. If you add two sets to your cart, and then apply the 20% off code you well get one set at half price, and one set at 20% off. Here’s an example below…
