LEGO Announces 76105 Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition

Did you see the recent Infinity War set announcement and think to yourself that the Hulkbuster was way too small? Well it seems LEGO agreed with them today announcing 76105 LEGO Superheroes Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition.

This massive UCS Hulkbuster features 1,363 pieces and stands over 25cm high.

HyperFocal: 0

Included are two different arm options that can be swapped out. You don’t just get the Hulkbuster itself, with the set coming with a wonderful display stand based on Tony Stark’s workshop. It’s a great way to display the model.

As expected with a UCS style set there is a detailed information plaque sticker.

Of course the Hulkbuster needs somebody to pilot it and in this case it’s Iron Man in his MK 43 armour. There is even a MK 43 sticker for when you are displaying the set.

I personally didn’t see this coming but I think the end result looks pretty good. Will you be getting this set when it’s released March 3rd (No VIP release)? I have sent off an email asking about the Australian RRP but haven’t heard back as yet. I’d expect this to be around $199.99 locally. Update: The Australian RRP is confirmed to be $199.99.

There are heaps of additional pictures and the full press release below.

75192 Millennium Falcon Now Available For Pre-Order From Toys R Us

It seems that slowly the UCS Millennium Falcon is becoming less impossible to buy. The latest option is to pre-order the set from Toys R Us. They are charging RRP but you will also need to add in postage.

The catch that may make this less appealing is that the item is due for delivery in March. If you are happy to wait then it is an option worth considering. You’ll also get Toys R Us VIP points worth about $10.

You can pre-order the set via https://www.toysrus.com.au/lego-star-wars-milennium-falcon-75192_8013781/

Thanks to David for letting me know about this.

It’s Real – LEGO Announces New UCS Millennium Falcon

There is a line in The Force Awakens that I think is appropriate here… “It’s true, all of it”. After months and months of rumours, speculation, fake leaks, teasers and even some real leaks LEGO have today announced the largest ever LEGO set.

Introducing 75192 Millennium Falcon

MF75192_Prod

It’s hard to put in words just how amazing this set is. Here are the key points:

  • The set has 7,541 pieces.
  • Same external dimensions as the previous version
  • It comes with two sets of minifigures – Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and C-3PO based on Empire Strikes Back. From the sequel trilogy there is Older Han Solo, Rey and Finn.
  • The exterior has all new more accurate detailing.
  • There is multiple sections of detailed interior – Main hold with printed Dejarik board. Rear compartment with engine room and hidden compartment. Gunnery station with minifigure gunner’s seat.
  • The model can be configured in Original Trilogy or Sequel Trilogy formats – it includes a round dish and a rectangular one.

Words do little to describe the epicness of all this. So I suggest you check out the image gallery, press release and designer video below. Warning for mobile users: There are a lot of images and I left them quite large so that you can see all the details.

According to somebody I spoke to at LEGO the Australian RRP is $1299.99. The set will be officially released on October 1st, but there will be a VIP release on September 14th.

Australian Price For 75144 Snowspeeder

LEGO press releases about new sets never contain the one bit of info we really need – how much it will cost us here in Australia.

Thankfully the product page for 75144 Snowspeeder is now live, and we know that the Australian RRP is $329.99.

LEGO Announces 75144 Snowspeeder

After the disappointing 75098 Assault on Hoth set released last year, LEGO Star Wars fans are keen for this years May The 4th release to be something more exciting and I definitely think it is…

Announcing 75144 Snowspeeder

75144 Snowspeeder

Based on vehicle from the iconic opening battle of The Empire Strikes Back this is a true UCS set – a highly detailed model featuring 1,703 pieces and a display stand with fact plaque.

While Assault on Hoth was a large play set this set is a fantastic display piece that will look great among any Star Wars fan’s collection.

The set will be available to VIPs on April 29th, with general availability on May 4th (Star Wars Day). The information I was sent didn’t include an Australian RRP but I will update as soon as I know. The US price is $199.99, which is likely to equate to $299.99 – $349.99 here.

You can view additional high-resolution images, the press release and designer video below (I’ll update with a YouTube version of the video when it’s available).

Opinions On The New Death Star

75159 Death Star Leak Thumb

You may not be aware of this, but right now there are images floating around online that claim to be the new 75159 Death Star set. I’m not going to repost the images, but for those interested they can be found on reddit, in various threads.

The images may be fake but they do seem to line up with other reports about the set – 75159 is nearly identical to the most recent Death Star set 10188.

It seems that LEGO and Disney are using the same logic as Emperor Palpatine himself – just build the same thing again.

If you talk to any adult LEGO fan long enough there will always be one set that they wish they’d been able to get, and the conversation often goes to remakes or re-releases. AFOLs seem to be generally in favour of remakes but the online reaction to 75159 has been really negative. Should we be happy that LEGO seem open to reproducing a set, or is this just a lazy cash grab and a bad sign for the future? I think there are a few issues at play here…

Official Details Of 75098 Assault On Hoth

The New York Toy Fair press release gave us the first information on the newest UCS Star Wars set and now that the show is underway we have a huge gallery of pictures as well as the official press release.

Introducing 75098 Assault On Hoth – 2,144 pieces, 14 minifigures

75098 Assault on Hoth Box

Hoth is one of the most iconic planets in the original trilogy and 75098 attempts to capture the entire rebel base with a selection of smaller builds that can be connected together. The modular builds include an Ion Cannon, Wampa cave and Snowspeeder among others. There seems to be a lot of people disappointed with the modular approach the designers went with.

As soon as we know the Australian RRP we will be sure to share it. The set will be available from the online LEGO Store on April 30th – so we shouldn’t have to wait too long for local pricing.
