The New LEGO Movie Sets Available For Pre-Order From Amazon

The US Amazon site has opened up pre-orders for the new LEGO Movie sets, and it looks like they work out slightly cheaper than the Australian RRP (even after shipping). Amazon has these listed as available June 1, 2014, and according to the Toys ‘R’ Us store that we spoke to these won’t be available in Australia until August. If you simply can’t wait for that Classic Space charm of Benny’s Spaceship then this might be a good option.

These prices do work out cheaper than the Australian RRP, but the best price would be picking these up during a 20% off sale in Australia.

Shipping from the US always seemed counter intuitive to me, because by the time you pay for the exorbitant postage to get it over here you may as well support the Australian economy/buy locally. Anyone know how to reduce the shipping costs? For example I tried to source a death star in the US and it ended up being the same price as buying it from Big W here…Just wish businesses started to understand that it really should be a global market and none of these absurd unjustifiable mark ups in price. Jabba’s palace still leaves a horrible taste in my mouth when I think about that RRP…That all been said I am incredibly excited for these Lego Movie sets but more so waiting news on the new Star Wars wave + super heroes! Surely Lego will have some of that by the time the Toy Sales are on next month…?

LEGO pricing in Australia can be a bit unpredictable. As we mentioned in the article these particular sets you are only saving a few dollars, but because they are available a while before the scheduled Australian release we thought it was worth sharing.

It is possible to save some decent money even after shipping something from the US. The Ewok Village (featured on our Amazon deals) is a great example. You can get this set shipped from Amazon for $302.60 AU. The Australian RRP is $389.99, which means you’re saving almost $80.

Never seen that deal before, that is incredibly cheap shipping to AU (I actually have my eye on the Ewok Village) usually when I find amicable prices Amazon won’t ship to Australia :'(!

I don’t think it’s so much unpredictable as it is in it’s variation by license or theme. Case in point the Super Star Destroyer has approximately the same piece count at the new Sand Crawler yet varies by $250 in price.

You can land a Death Star from Amazon for around $529. Still crazy, but better than $699.

Is the August release date for these sets just for stores? By which I mean, will Australians be able to order them on June 1 from the Lego Australia online store? (That’s what I was planning on doing.)

We aren’t sure on the official Australian release date as yet. We will get in touch with LEGO and see if we can get some more information.

I sent some e-mails but they couldn’t tell me anything about an Australian release date, which I take to mean as a NO for June 1st 🙁

I’ve been trying to get an answer from Amazon as to why they won’t ship the one set to Australia. Trying…
