At Bricking Around we always say that our readers are some of the best people in the world, and now we have more evidence of that. We have received some exclusive news from a Bricking Around reader who now works for LEGO in Billund (they have assured us this post can’t be traced back to them).
Later this year LEGO will be releasing a series of sets aimed exclusively at Adult Fans of LEGO. These sets are going to be released online only, and so far haven’t been shown to anybody outside of LEGO. This could explain why we didn’t hear anything about this at any of the recent toy fairs.
Our source also sent us part of the official marketing materials;
As the LEGO brand continues to go from strength to strength we realise the importance of the Adult LEGO Fan community. These adult fans are some of the biggest spenders on our products, and we felt it was about time we created a range aimed at them. The new AFOL theme captures moments that will resonate with all adults.
We don’t have official images, but here are the set details that we have been sent.
Tax Time
224 pieces
Help Joe make sense of his deductions!
Our source describes this set as a home office, with some nice decorative elements. The computer features a new printed tile for a screen. Multiple printed ‘receipt’ tiles.
Flat Pack Panic
412 pieces
Will Jenny & Alex ever get their IKEA® Bookcase together?
Apparently this set contains two minifigures, one male and one female. Both minifigures come with a second angry face. Includes printed IKEA parts. This will be an officially licensed IKEA tie-in.
Teenager Troubles
2131 pieces
Oh no! Kim has a new boyfriend, and he looks like trouble.
This is to be the largest set in the new theme. Side view of a house (like a dollhouse according to our source). The house features multiple rooms with modular-level detailing. It is two level with a staircase. The teenage daughter (named Kim) looks goth/emo-ish. Apparently she has the Wyldstyle hairpiece but with red streaks. The boyfriend minifigure is designed like a biker, but includes a black muscle car. The parents both have grey hair (similar to Ma & Pa Cop from The LEGO Movie).
Our source tells us that the theme will contain 6 sets in total, but was unable to find any information on the other three.
Let us know in the comments what you think about this exclusive news.
Happy April fools to you too !!
HAHHAHA darn I actually thought this may be true. 🙁
This better be April Fools because those sets sound terrible.
A day early 🙂
Flat Pack Panic – this sounds like an extension on the Minecraft theme, making a brick set for a world made out of bricks 😛
