Sometimes news articles are written in a way that can create some ambiguity. One example of that is the article about a possible LEGOLAND Discovery Centre headed to Sydney that formed the basis of our previous article. There are certainly two ways of interpreting what the article said – either LEGOLAND is one of the retailers heading to Sydney, or it’s an example of a brand heading to Australia.
One first reading the article it seemed like the story was specifically about Sydney. Reader aoi read it another way.
With the truth left up in the air, it seemed like a good time for some investigating.
Finding the truth shouldn’t be difficult – if the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is coming to Australia then chances are the business details have already been registered. A quick search for LEGOLAND on the ASIC Website revealed just one result – LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTRE MELBOURNE PTY LTD.
There was no result for a a Sydney discovery centre.
To learn more about LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTRE MELBOURNE PTY LTD Bricking Around obtained some of the ASIC documentation to learn more about the business.
The documents reveal that Merlin (the company that runs the LEGO attractions) hasn’t just registered the name as a “just in case” measure – things are happening with the business. As of the 30th of June there were new directors appointed to the company, and the address details were changed from Sydney to a Melbourne address.
Basically – LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne is happening, and there are no signs that Sydney is. This will certainly help the Sydney vs Melbourne rivalry.
To avoid igniting a war between New South Wales and Victoria, they should simply open the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Brisbane, Queensland! It seems like the only sensible option.
Either that or open a proper LEGOLAND on the Gold Coast. It would fit right in there.
