Bad news for Marvel fans hoping to get a Winter Soldier Minifigure with their August order – the offer is already sold out.
We spoke to LEGO Customer Service this morning and they confirmed that the Winter Soldier Minifigure is sold out and they are working to have that removed from the website.
The fact that it is only August 3rd and the August offer is already sold out is extremely disappointing.
We did some tests on the site and noticed that the Friends Red Carpet set was being added to our bag, even though our order did not contain $45 worth of Friends, Elves or Disney Princess sets (that was the original requirement). Customer service was not able to confirm that this was being offered for all orders as a replacement.
If you placed an order on Saturday or Sunday (August 1st or 2nd) and did not receive the Winter Soldier minifigure it might be worth calling LEGO Customer Service and discussing the issue with them – they may be able to add the Friends set to your order if it wasn’t already added.

Since this article was posted there have been a few updates
A few people have pointed out that the Friend promotion was applying to all orders since it started. We incorrectly assumed that this was a recent change but apparently that promotion has just always been a bit wonky.
The online store has also been updated to remove the banner for the Winter Soldier minifigure. The page is still active but there is no reference to it on the site any more.
That is so sad. I am wondering to get winter solider this time.
I ordered on Saturday night (or was it Sunday morning, I forget whether it was after midnight by the time I finished my order 🙂 and I ended up with the Friends polybag (and no Winter Soldier) in my order even though I only ordered Big Bang Theory, 2 x Power Functions motors, 3 parts from PaB and a large number of parts from Bricks & Pieces.
I didn’t actually place an order, but even before the Winter Soldier promotion started, my dummy order still had the Friends poly in my cart, even though it didn’t contain any Friends, etc. sets, so I don’t think they adjusted the requirements after Winter Soldier sold out, I think they just chucked into everyone’s cart anyway (same thing happened with the Elves poly a few months back).
After the Winter Soldier offer was announced, I tried several browsers, and logged in, then not logged in, $100+ worth of Marvel in my cart, then $100+ of non-Marvel in my cart, and no matter what, he never appeared in my cart, only the Friends poly, and that was over the weekend, so I’m not entirely convinced the offer ever truely existed (beyond the advertising of it).
Has anyone actually managed to secure one in their order?
I ordered $200 worth of LEGO Saturday Morning about 8am. The winter soldier and Friends Poly were added to the order. The order is still in Warehouse so not expecting to get the WS now (still hopeful though!)
Hi Guys, got some bad and good news. I didn’t believe the information that Lego Aus supplied regarding Winter Soldier Promo being Sold out in few hours game over, because customers including myself had been trying to get a winter soldier promo in our cart since the minute it began and failed so surely stock could not have been that limited.
So first just to clear a few things up, the Friends Poly Bag has been available for any orders over $100 for a couple of weeks and originally had nothing to do with the Winter Soldier Promo.
Now here is the bad news.. I spoke to the Lego guys in the UK as they deal with all our stock and orders as we are a branch of the EU Shop@home and the UK customer service reps are super friendly and are awesome to deal with and always know exactly whats going on or speak to someone first hand who does.
So basically the Winter Soldier Promo is real and did become available for the first morning in Aus and hours before it even started in UK but there was a major stuff up with their supply delivery.
They didn’t receive barely any (100 or so) of the Winter Soldier PolyBags they were supposed to but instead received a heap more of the Friends Polybag that had already been available. So only a very select few manage for the winter soldier to show up in cart and in placed orders. So only those few will received the Winter Soldier’s that Lego had. And all other orders that placed a order with no Winter Soldier in their cart and those who have placed orders since the promotion was removed will unfortunately not Receive a Winter Soldier Polybag.
Now here is the good news, it’s not game over yet… As it was only a lack of supply with their delivery error, this promotion will indeed be up and running for Aus and UK/EU again in the near future when they receive their original dedicated stock. So keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks for a Winter Soldier Promo Banner!!

They received some new stock, just called and they added the minifig to my order
