More Melbourne LEGOLAND Discovery Centre News

We have known that a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is heading to Chadstone in Melbourne for a little while now but thanks to a couple of news articles we have some new details to share.

The centre is due to open in mid-2017 which is unfortunately way too far away for our liking.

Located next to the main cinemas in a new $25 million-plus wing the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre will feature rides, LEGO building areas, a cinema, party rooms and a Miniland featuring the Melbourne cityscape.

Australia’s first Discovery Centre promises to be quite extensive with a footprint of 2800 square metres.

While the attraction is likely to be a huge hit with young LEGO fans it remains to be seen what appeal it will hold for adult fans; the company behind the Discovery Centres, Merlin Entertainment, are quite open about these venues being only for adults with kids – except on special adult nights. It is likely this will also be true here.

Another big question mark is the products that will be available. Discovery Centres are not LEGO Stores but generally do stock some products not found elsewhere such as small promotional sets. Issues like the Ant-Man or Ultra Agents set availability may affect this centre too.

With an opening in 2017 we’re sure there will be more news to come, possibly even some job opportunities.
