Kmart Force Awakens Set Prices

There were quite a few comments on our last Force Awakens set post so you may have missed the interesting news that was posted there.

Bricking Around reader Michael spotted price tags for some of the new sets at his local Kmart store. Here is what he spotted;

75099 Rey’s Speeder – $39
750100 First Order Snowspeeder – $59
75102 Poe’s X-Wing Fighter – $129

These all seem like legitimate prices but until the products are on the shelves there is always the unlikely chance that these will change.

Michael also spotted pricing for the new range of buildable Star Wars characters;

75107 Jango Fett – $29
75108 Clone Commander Cody – $29
75110 Luke Skywalker – $29
75109 Obi-Wan Kenobi – $39
75111 Darth Vader – $49
75112 General Grievous – $49

A huge thanks to Michael for sharing this info with us.

      Not sure how I managed to stuff that up. Time for bed I think.

    Wow, 100% markup on the US price of Rey’s Speeder…. I hope this isn’t the ‘new legitimate’

    Thanks Michael and Michael, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad 😉

    As already stated in the previous TFA post it’s pointless trying to predict Lego prices but honestly how can you charge $33 RRP for 75090 Ezra’s Speeder Bike, a set that came out in March 2015, with 253 pieces and 3 minifigs and $40 RRP for 75099 Rey’s Speeder with 193 pieces and two minifigs 6 months later?

    Rhetorical question. If there’s an answer it’s – they can charge whatever they like. There appears to be no rhyme or reason.

      It’s pure marketing. Price per piece means nothing when it comes to Star Wars Lego. This was the first iconic glimpse we got from the first teaser trailer of what is arguably the most anticipated movie in history. Ezra’s speeder bike on the other hand would have a much more limited appeal based on its appearance in Rebels. I always see a heap of Ezra’s speeder bike in retail stores. I’m betting the same won’t be said for Rey’s Speeder in the lead-up to Xmas. It’s still the cheapest set in the wave and TLG know countless parents will prefer to spend $40 on this rather than spend more for the next size set. AFOLs like me will moan about the markup but I will still purchase it : )

    OT Star Wars sets make up the majority of my licensed Lego purchases and the SW theme doesn’t really do that many $20 USD sets, there’s the cheap sets like microfighters, battlepacks and then the more commonly priced $25 USD sets like the recent Phantom and T-16 Skyhopper which we also pay a more reasonable $40 here.

    The superheroes is a more comparable licensed theme with SW and that line does a lot more $20 USD sets, I remembered this because I bought the pretty cool 76025 Space Batman/Green Lantern set earlier this year. Naturally I bought it at a 20% off sale 😉 $20 USD price tag translates to $40 AUD. Also on that list is 76000, 76004, 76006, 76009, 76011, 76015, 76017, 76019 & 76030.

    So what I’m saying is the price of Rey’s Speeder shouldn’t really surprise me or anyone really, you can tell I don’t buy many superhero sets nor look at their price tag.

    Looking at bricklink there were two Marvel sets 6866 Woverine’s Chopper and 6867 Loki’s Cosmic Cube/Hawkeye 4×4, $20USD –> $50 AUD o_O

    Sorry if I’m being annoying or spammy with these overly detailed posts but I get a strange kick out of these sorts of things. I think Michael might too but his posts are much better with his pretty charts and tables, which also serve the purpose of saving me money.

    One of the reasons the force awakens sets will be pricier is the AUD at 70cents as opposed to nearly 1:1 for the last few years. Prices will keep going up in AUD as the pacific peso keeps falling
