LEGO Dimensions Release Schedule

We have received some information from Warner Bros games that, depending on your opinion of LEGO Dimensions, is either going to be great news or terrible news.

Rather than flooding the market on day one, the release of the various LEGO Dimensions packs is being spread out over 5 waves. With so many different packs announced there was some concern that picking up everything was just not going to be feasible – at least by spreading it out there is more opportunity for kids to save up their pocket money or add packs to their Christmas wish list.

The bad news may come in for those LEGO fans interested in the packs as LEGO products more so than gaming products – some of the more highly anticipated sets won’t be released until early 2016. For example the Slimer pack won’t be available until May next year. That’s a long wait for those looking to grab a Slimer to go with their Ecto-1.

We have included the image with this release schedule below. It’s quite large so click on it for a readable version. We’ve also included a text breakdown below.

The RRP for all of this is looking to be over $1,200 all in, closer to $1,300. This leaves a real sour taste in my mouth. Even though our kids love the LEGO games I’m probably going to skip Dimensions.

I think this way is preferable, its a bit gentler on my wallet, and also will spread out the gaming a bit as well. Hopefully, though, they will still stock the earlier wave packs once the later ones come out, in case you miss getting a couple at the start. I know Disney Infinity, Skylanders, and especially Amiibo have had this issue, where a few figures are very rare, and sell out almost immediately.

I think this was a good move. I also very much prefer the way all the packs are presented in the image; much easier to get a good grasp of exactly what’s available.

This is excellent as I only want a few from Waves 4 and 5. So I have just under a year to save up. The rest I already have the minifigs of.

I was really excited about this game, but after looking at the prices on EB Games, its way too expensive. $170 for the starter pack and then $25- $50 for each add on pack.

Well there is the Mad Monday sale on December 7th that will probably drop the price at EB Games by about 25%.

Where did you see that? I didn’t think LEGO still had the rights to Spongebob

I paid $50 for my starter pack but am too tight to pay the ridiculous prices for the Fun/Level packs.
