On Sale: Buy 1, Get 1 Half Price At Toys R Us

September is usually a better month for sales and it looks like Toys R Us are keen on proving that to be true.

From Wednesday September 2nd 2015 until Tuesday September 15th Toys R Us are offering Buy 1, Get One Half Price on selected LEGO themes. That works out to be a decent 25% off if you are buying two identically priced items. You can also mix and match across themes.

Toys R Us B1G1HP September 2015

We know that selected theme sales don’t please everybody but hopefully the inclusion of Star Wars will be welcome news. You read that right – when the Force Awakens set launch at Toys R Us they will instantly be on sale.

Here are the included themes;

  • City
  • Star Wars
  • Ninjago
  • Friends
  • Elves
  • Duplo

You can check out the catalogue here.

Is this online as well? I would order online to avoid queue haha

I believe this will also be online. The sale starts on Wednesday so it should be possible to test it out before Friday.

Thanks Michael! Good to know. I just hope their catalogue online gets updated with the new star wars set on friday. Cant wait!!!

Wow. The equivalent of 25% on the new TFA sets seems too good to be true! I guess having multiple large retailers vying for your Lego dollar is a win-win for consumers. Thanks for the heads up Michael. Now the poster offer seems a lot more attractive : ) Do Toys R Us place personal shopping limits on customers? I certainly hope so or I’m betting we are going to see the worst in humanity come out on Thurs night and watch for the flood of overpriced TFA Lego on EBay by the weekend.

I just checked on toysrus website.

it doesn’t seem to include the newer star wars lego sets 🙁

Hopefully that’s just an error on their website. I’ll get in touch with them via Facebook and see what I can find out.

now everything is on sale from star wars! just checked… woo hoo…

Looks like it was a glitch – after sending them a message on Facebook they said they’d look into it. Seems they did 🙂

  4. Justin

    Yes Michael.

Hopefully there are still stock when i go and buy on the Tuesday next since I will only be back then.

ToysRus are not being helpful on ordering online since it takes the cheapest item and deduct it by 50 percent rather than optimising it.

    • Michael Post author

If they optimise it then they make less money. Can’t have that 😛

I just spoke to the manager on duty at Toys R Us Doncaster Vic and he said that the new TFA sets will not be part of the buy 1 get 50% off the second deal. Furthermore he claimed they did not have stock of TFA lego to release tonight. In his words only “action figures”. WTF? I think they will have a riot on their hands if that’s the case.

Don’t see why they wouldn’t be included. The offer says LEGO Star Wars and doesn’t have any exclusions. The ACCC would not like that.

Well, the midnight launch was very disappointing. Aspley Toys’r’Us didn’t have any TFA lego sets in stock, and actually had barely any TFA stock at all, especially for the number of people who had queued up outside. One of the store workers told me that they would be gradually be getting in stock over the next few weeks. Hopefully they will be in stock before the 15th, so we can still make use of this deal.

No Lego at Doncaster Toys R Us and not much else either. What a complete waste of time. Target had the First Order Tie fighter, Falcon and Rey’s Speeder but nothing else. Scalpers emptied the shelves of these within a couple of minutes. How friggin hard is it for retailers to place limits on shoppers!

Very misleading advertising in my opinion – be careful. I brought two of the same Lego Star Wars sets (POE Fighter) and whilst I got 50% of the second Lego set, I did NOT get 50 % of the second set of 2 x Lego Star Wars sets (Imperial Shuttle Tydirium) at the online checkout. Very disappointing and was too late before I realised what had happened! As its very unclear that the discount only applies to the first Lego set on a single order.

    • Michael Post author

      That’s a bit strange. I just added two Imperial Shuttles and two X-Wings to a cart on the site and it calculated the discount as;
      2 x $139.99
      2 x $65
      Total: $409.98

Which is correct, as the 50% off gets applied to the lowest priced items. If you were charged more than that I’d be getting in touch with Toys R Us.

  9. JH

Thanks Michael for quick response! That’s exactly what I was charged however my concern is that it was not advertised that way. I can’t seem to find anywhere on the site that it applies only on to the lowest price items etc
