Force Friday is fast approaching and it appears that there are just two retailers getting in on the midnight launch action. We’ve already seen the Toys R Us details but here is what Target are doing for the occasion.
Here are all the details:
Midnight Openings
Victoria: Doncaster, Melbourne CBD, Highpoint
New South Wales: Penrith, Parramatta
South Australia: Elizabeth
Star Wars Gift Bag
Receive a free Star Wars gift bag at Midnight store locations with any Star Wars purchase on Friday 4 September. While stocks last
Face Painting
The midnight stores will all be offering free face painting.
Don’t forget – even though the event is called Force Friday you’ll need to be at the stores on Thursday night.
Update
As spotted by Steve in the comments, it appears the Melbourne CBD store is ready to go for tonight!
You won’t be able to actually purchase the sets until it hits midnight but for those worried about there not being any LEGO – There will be LEGO.
We also got a response from Target PR confirming that stores will have stock and the Force Awakens sets will be available online from Midnight.
imagine having face painting at midnight…. i will come just for that
Well, it’s the school system I’m frankly very disappointed in. My sons primary school has literacy week this week, with a book fair and literary characters costume parade on the Friday and my wife, for some reason I can’t fathom, is suggesting it may not be a good idea to take our son to highpoint at midnight the night before. Crazy, right? I mean it’s almost like the school never even considered force friday when planning this event.
Here’s hoping the ebay resellers spread the love around a bit and the shelves aren’t too bare friday afternoon. Happy FF and happy Father’s Day to all my fellow lego dads ๐
Take your son out at midnight and then send him to school the next day as Sleepy (one of the seven dwarfs). Surely Sleepy counts as a literary character?
A method costume, I like it, thanks Michael ๐
I am having the same debate with my wife, thinking of taking my son to the Toys R Us at Moore Park to see the sights! She thinks that is nuts. Glad I am not the only one!
Stuff the face painting. Give me 20% off instead.
Can you really put a price on getting your face painted to look like a Wookiee? (Probably)
I don’t know who will get ‘judgemental eye’ more…the dads without kids or the ones who dragged their kids along on a school night! My wife would kill me if I snuck the kids out at night! But, her reaction would be priceless if she tried to wake the kids in the morning only to discover wookies in their beds!
Wow this is strange. That’s not many Target stores and they’ve also picked stores which have also got a TRU in the same suburb some with in the same complex.
TRU’s deals are a lot better than facepaint.
Sydney has Parramatta and Penrith?? That’s like New York opening the Staten Island and Long Island stores whilst leaving the Manhatten one closed.
Still better than Queensland ๐
Melb Target CBD has SWFA Lego on the shelves for sale. Picked up a Rey.
I called up highpoint Target earlier just to see if they could confirm if the Lego sets are even a part of the launch and a very stern sounding lady informed me they were under strict instructions not to even open any delivery boxes until between the close of business and the midnight launch and couldn’t give me any information.
Called up CBD Target after seeing your post Steve, the guy I spoke to wasn’t quite sure why there even was a midnight launch when the sets are already for sale. He then rolled off a list of what was in front of him on the shelves.
๐
I’ve got a photo of the stock on the shelf if you want it.
Feel free to send it through
Okay, I did actually pick up a Rey, but they couldn’t sell it to me. So they’ve put it on hold in layby and promised a discount for the inconvenience.
If that was me I may have asked for a sit down and a stiff drink too, to help with the emotional whiplash. At least we can be sure the sets are a part of the fun tonight, hate to think my wife spent the morning crafting a Han Solo costume for our son for nothing.
Have a great SW weekend everyone
Oh, they are also expecting to sell out of Lego at their midnight opening.
One last note on the Rey, the speeder opens up to store weapons etc. not sure if this is common knowledge yet.
Hi Steve, was the First Order Transporter there?
Rey’s speeder, Tie Fighter and M.Falcon only. Unless they had more out the back they hadn’t put out yet.
I only hope they have plenty of stock tonight to meet the demand. I’ll be pretty unhappy if I’m all bleary eyed tomorrow for no reason! Does anyone have any idea how early one would need to arrive? I’m guessing turning up at 11.50 might be a risky move. Anyways, Happy Force Friday everyone. I’m guessing there will be a few fathers like me having an extra reason or two to celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday!
Toys R Us Moore Park report. Force Friday was a total bust. No new lego. That is right, none. Lots of plastic figures, micro machines and some lightsabers, but not much force awakens. Oh, being a consumer in Australia is terrible at times, just thinking about when I used to live in NYC!!
The force did not awaken. In fact, it was lame.
http://www.target.com.au/c/toys/construction-toys/lego-star-wars/W418130 10% off the three sets.
Having almost slept through the whole thing I thought what the hell let’s go check out ‘midnight madness’
TRU first, no lego TFA. Only a few hundred metres away so Target next, by the time I got there most of the ‘madness’ had died down. Target have only has stock of Rey’s Speeder, TIE fighter and the MF, as the image at the top suggests, special online prices only; $35, $89 and $229. But there were offering the sets at that price for midnight customers though it wasn’t signposted.
I picked up Rey’s Speeder as to not completely walk away empty handed and $35 is not a horrible price. Save your money for when Myer has a 20% off sale.
Apparently no TRU in Sydney has TFA lego yet and probably won’t have any stock until after the Buy 1 Get 1 Half ends – convenient.
I’d expect a lot of complaints come the morning, although they never actually advertised they’d have TFA lego so no ACCC action.
Picked up a Rey Speeder at Melb CBD Target for $35 on the way to the office at 8am, still plenty of stock… Prices of all have been dropped to the online price, don’t know how long that will last though.
I have a mate after the new X-Wing, anyone seen it anywhere yet?? Thanks in advance.
@Steve it is on the kmart online store – but haven’t seen it in store yet – $129
