Target’s catalogue last week didn’t feature any actual LEGO, just a box of bricks compatible with LEGO. I was shocked. Luckily it seems to have been a diversion before they unleash this week’s catalogue, which happens to be pretty great. This catalogue starts tomorrow (April 6th) and runs right through to April 30th 2017.
The headline offer is 50% off both 75098 Assault on Hoth and 76052 Classic TV Series Batcave – That’s right, both of these $399 sets are going to be available for just $199. Expect these to disappear quickly. Really quickly. Both of those links will take you to the relevant product page if you want to try and order online.
What else is on offer? Well there is a baseline 20% off LEGO. It’s hard to complain about that.

Assault on Hoth sold out online in about 20 seconds and classic Batcave in a few minutes. I suspect store stock might be better but the fact that they are clearing these two high value sets at 50% discount is telling. These sets were never on display at my local Target, and it’s a big one. I understand that shelf space in premium in large retail but a (badly) printed photo of these sets on the Lego aisle would not seem conjucive to strong sales. Going forward, it makes me wonder if Target will stock any more large Lego exclusives or is it just a case that these sets were destined to be poor performers in the first place?
I’ve had an insane time today trying to land a Batcave.
Ordered online at 12.15am and my order was immediately cancelled (even though my credit card was charged). They were trying to protect me from fraud. Had a wonderful conversation with Target Online and wasn’t impressed with them or their recovery skills. Was told to go to a store to purchase.
Most stores in my area were sold out already (by 9.15am). Most stores said they had a line up at the start of the day.
Eventually found stock at Doncaster (VIC). They still have about 8 left and a couple of Hoths there as well

Target Point Cook has about 10 Assault on Hoths and 5 or 6 Bat caves, looked they were bringing out more stock.
It also sounded like they were doing rainchecks.
Managed to get Assult on Hoth from Frankston. I just called and asked if they could put one aside. I wasn’t going to get this set but it is worth it for $200
I managed to pick up an Assault on Hoth set @ Doncaster tonight. The service assistant said they had 50 of them sitting around for 6 months and sold all but three of them today.
I saw a Batcave at $199 in the Perth City Target today. Seems they found one out the back…
