Review: 30426 Stealthy Swamp Airboat

I am not the biggest Ninjago fan but while looking at the available polybags at my local Woolworths, this set caught my eye.

30426 Stealthy Swamp Airboat

This 2017 polybag set contains 40 parts and a single minifigure.

The set includes a Cole minifigure, as he appears in the 2017 lineup. His torso is dark bluish grey with extensive black and brown printing on the front and rear. The print is quite detailed and features a robe and rope pattern. This pattern continues on to the legs which have front printing. The arms provide a nice contrast in black.

The included black hair element is common to Cole minifigures, as is the black mini mask.

Cole’s head is a double-sided print with one side a determined or angry look and the other more of a smile. With the hair and mask in place the difference really comes down to the eyes and eyebrows.

The set is a relatively simple build. The use of sloped bricks gives the airboat an overall smooth and sleek appearance. A printed 2×1 slope acts as the control panel for the vehicle.

The front is adorned with two headlights and two stud shooters. The stud shooters fire off 1×1 round plates in trans orange. Luckily several extras are included as the stud shooters fire a reasonable distance and inevitably under couches or other hard to reach places.

The boat becomes and airboat with the addition of a giant fan on the back. This is created with a large propeller and open dish element. It’s quite an effective design.

For a final touch of decoration there are several pearl gold elements, including two swords. These add a bit of colour to an otherwise very black set.

This is one of several $5 polybags available at Woolworths and I think it is a fantastic buy for that price. The minifigure features fantastic printing and the fact that a play feature (stud shooters) is included in such a cheap set is awesome.
