LEGO continues their latest trend of re-releasing huge sets with 10256 Taj Mahal. Officially released on November 27th, this model features 5923 pieces (one more than the original).
Usually when LEGO announce a new set I get a press release and have to wait for the Australian product page to go live hours later. This time LEGO have mixed things up with the product page going live first. This means we already know the Australian RRP – $499.99.
The original Taj Mahal was a flagship piece in many AFOL collections, and this remake is likely to prove just as popular.

It’s pretty stunning. The question is is my patience good enough to do something all the one colour.
Wow! This is the biggest statement Lego has made so far regarding Lego reselling and clone brands. It looks to be an identical re-release of the original, unlike the recent re-releases of other big iconic sets that have been updated. The value of collectible sets on the secondary market have already been dropping but I think this will be the tipping point. It will also help stem loss of sales to companies like Lepin who blatantly steal Lego designs, especially retired sets. I only hope they start re-releasing the early Modulars soon.
I’ve been patiently waiting for Lego to develop a system where we can simply order any set from the past. In this day and age there is no reason why any set (or any list of parts really) can’t be ordered and packed by machine on request. Granted it would cost a bit more but not the premium paid on the resale market.
The issue here is that machines get retired and certain parts go out of production. LEGO don’t still make every element they have ever produced.
Wow this is huge!!! The value of the old set will drop dramatically!! Im so getting 1 or 2 lol!! I feel for the people who paid premiums for this second hand when you can get it new now for a 1/4 of the price. Lego has just troll’d so many!!
Squeeeeeee! There is not written expression that can sufficiently convey my sheer excitement at this set being re-released. I have longingly looked at it on the secondhand market and thought is it really worth $2000 – well now I do not have to answer that question. DAY 1 PURCHASE – come on 27/11!
