This year is not just the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick, it is also the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Minifigure. LEGO seem to think that the best way to celebrate the minifigure’s birthday is with a huge minifigure costume party. I think it’s a great idea.
This series features 17 minifigures all taking part in a birthday costume party celebration. The series will be available from April.
Here they are…
Police Officer
The birthday boy himself – a recreation of one of the first ever minifigures. There are reports out of New York Toy Fair that this minifigure is going to be rare, with only one per box. I think that’s a stupid way of doing things.

Birthday Party Girl / Birthday Party Boy
While the rest of the minifigures are wearing costumes these two are just decked out in their fancy birthday clothes. I love the balloons.
Brick Suit Girl / Brick Suit Guy
I really love these brick suit costumes. The fact that there are two is going to make this tough to feel the packets.
Cake Guy
It’s not a party unless somebody jumps out of a cake! I am not sure if this minifigure includes legs but those cake pieces are great.
Cactus Girl
The arm elements are really interesting here.
Cat Costume Girl
Great mask and tail. Interesting dual moulded arms too.
Cowboy Costume Guy
I love the fact that the horse still manages to look like a classic LEGO horse.
Dragon Suit Guy
Absolutely amazing minifigure. Every part of this I love.
Elephant Girl
Another great mask element. The new mouse is also really interesting.
Fireworks Guy
I feel like this guy would spend the whole party dropping inappropriate innuendo. It’s probably the big BANG on his costume.
Flowerpot Girl
I can potentially see the large pot element being popular with builders.
Party Clown
I’m going to say that this is one of my favourites. Those balloon animals are just amazing.
Race Car Guy
This one should be quite easy to feel in a packet. I like the 40 on the car.
Spider Suit Boy
Great face print here. The costume is great too.
Unicorn Guy
A bit of a strange minifigure but I love it. The print on the shield is really nice.
