The Hogwarts Express Is Going To Be Delayed

What is it with trains and long annoying delays?

It seems that 75955 Hogwarts Express was originally destined to be a Toys R Us exclusive. With Toys R Us coming to a close it means that we won’t see a retail release of the Hogwarts Express until November, and then it seems only at specialty toy stores.

This information comes from Outer Rim Trading Co, one of those specialty retailers that will eventually be stocking the set.

Buying this set directly from LEGO online may be an alternative, although at $139.99 you’ll need to spend more to get to the $200 free shipping threshold. The set will be released online here at some time tomorrow.

Both the Dreamworld Certified Store and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne should also have stock of this set.

Why Hogwarts Express was ever going to be a TRU exclusive is beyond me. It’s clearly going to be one of (if not the) most popular set in the wave.

That is kind of the point. If it is not going to be popular then big companies would not want to pay extra to have it exclusive.

Umm. Did you ever notice some of the more recent TRU SW exclusives? Combat frigate from SW Rebels or Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive were never going to be big sellers!

You can’t strike gold with every release or even exclusive for that matter. One of the main points of having a retailer exclusive is to create a point of difference between the different retail categories, to give the customers a reason to shop with you.

As an independent retailer who will (eventually) get it then of course it works out well for you. My point is that this will bring out the worst in people. It’s already sold out on LEGO S@H…cue flippers who got their 5x limits with multiple accounts to take advantage of limited supply and gouge people on EBay.

Is there any official word that this is going to be the case with the rest of the TRU exclusives? It seems to be the case in the UK and US, where it also seems to be the case that the new HP sets are selling out before they hit the shelves. More time for me to save, I guess.

Nothing official, but anything that was scheduled to be a TRU exclusive will now be shopped around to either the majors or independants.

I can confirm that it will be independent Toy stores that will be getting in the train 🙂 (I work at one and our LEGO rep has told us so)

Does anyone know why the Hogwarts Express will be 30 dollars extra than rrp. It’s $139.99 instead of $111.27-$120
