Bricking Around Is Now On Patreon

Over the years a few people have suggested that I launch a Patreon to help support this site. It’s something that I have considered but never followed through with – until now. You can find the Bricking Around Patreon here, or click the button below.

What’s Patreon?

If you are not familiar with Patreon it is a platform that allows people to support content creators by becoming patrons and making a monthly donation. That doesn’t mean that the site is going to be become a members only site. It is just an option for people who want to do that little bit extra to support the site.

Why is Bricking Around starting a Patreon?

The first goal is to scrap the Google Ads on the site. I know that nobody likes ads, so removing them would be great for everybody.

The main reason though is that I want to produce the best possible content and resources for Australian LEGO fans. As a Recognised LEGO Fan Media site I am able to get some LEGO sets from LEGO directly so this isn’t about buying me LEGO.

The projects that I want to produce take a lot of time and resources. For example I want to create a database of LEGO information that surpasses anything else out there for Australians. International sites, like Brickset, are great but they don’t care about what Kmart charges for the latest Friends set. I do care about that.

The Australian retailers are not great at sharing information, so a lot of what I do requires a hands on approach to gathering the data. Posts such as price comparisons can take hours to produce. There are also potential costs involved in some of the projects that I want to create for the community. While I’d love to cover those costs myself it’s just not always possible.

What do I get as a Patron?

Patrons will get their name on the website to show appreciation for their support. I will also be offering some behind the scenes posts for Patrons. For example giving you a look at what I am building before I publish my actual review. Patrons will also get a first look at projects in their BETA stages. If certain goals are met I’ll be rewarding supporters in other ways such as a monthly raffle.

Other ways to support Bricking Around

You like the site but don’t want to become a patron? There are still plenty of ways to support the site. Firstly, keep reading the site. You can also use affiliate links when making purchases via Amazon, eBay or LEGO Online. Alternatively if you’d like to support the site financially but don’t want to commit to a monthly amount you can do so via the button below.
