Anyone has thoughts about getting the Y Wing from BigW or should I get it from LegoShop?

I am thinking along the lines of the fact that Lego Shop is currently offering double VIP points and also free gift i.e. minifigure stand. Will that be equivalent to the $50 saved from Big W?

        • Michael Post authorReply

Double VIP points would get you $22.50 worth of redeemable points. It looks like the minifigure frame promotion has ended early (most likely due to being out of stock).

I’m making an assumption here so forgive me if i’m wrong, but I’m always puzzled by the fact that people publicly acknowledge that they’ve stocked up to presumably sell for profit whilst denying others the chance to get a deal.

This comes from a guy who wanted the Y-Wing but found it’s sold out.

Well the original PF components of trains had an RRP of $75 plus for the battery box, IR receiver, and motor. Assuming the new PF2.0 components work out as a similar price, its not really that surprising for a train nutter to buy more than one set. I have two of the PF2.0 passenger trains and the cargo train and would consider buying another Cargo one.

Maybe the Y-wing is for a mate.

Maybe it’s because not everyone thinks like you do. A shop has items for sale and someone else has money to buy them. What they decide to do with it is up to them, this is how a capitalist societies work.

Someone buying multiples to sell isn’t denying you anymore than someone buying multiples to build or to give to family and friends as gifts.

I am always puzzled by people who decide to play the victim online with their over inflated sense of entitlement. Disgusting!

        • James Reply

Jon I wouldn’t call it a sense of entitlement to hope to purchase a set at a good price. Using that definition then yes, we all feel entitled. Surely you understand where he’s coming from. I’ve actually seen people leaving a store with a trolley load of one large set that I would have liked during sale time. Sure, it’s capitalism at play but I think you’ll find plenty of people in our shoes who are irked by those who buy for resale – making it to find a deal when Lego is generally quite expensive.

If you believe the news a large percentage of the population would disgust you. There are commonly stories about “asians” buying baby formula and selling it. It is at the point where people are putting pictures of people buying in bulk on social media while everyone jumps in to shame them. I always thought it was more about racism than people actually caring that people were buying in bulk but who knows.
Ultimately I am in agreement that it is up to people to get in early to get the deal – but to suggest you are “disgusted” by people “playing the victim” says as much about you as it does about him.

On a more Lego related note. I wonder if those trains are still available. I forgot they included the new PF and now want to pick one up myself.

i bought one to build that presumably my daughter will pull apart and one for safe keeping when the kids are older and won’t mutilate the set. the big-w that i visited since buying 2 of this set still have stock as of yesterday so i didn’t deny anyone in my area.

        • jeremy Reply

also forgot to mention, the trains were purchased for parts to build custom trains / longer trains. one train set isn’t enough, most lego train lovers will agree.

Using that assumption, not really pertaining to LEGOs but yet more or less have a relation to it, I want to point out something many people failed to see, resulting in what those who cannot comprehend or see what they did not only to others but themselves as well.
What is happening to the world now is a good example of what have been going on.

LEGOs is just a part of something bigger, and this big thing is a constitution of many parts as well.
Now, when one chose to stock up on items to profit from another and deny another a chance to have a desirable deal.
One is doing the same thing to oneself, eventually being denied the opportunity to a desirable deal as well.

Similar to a thief who steals a little child pencil and say,”It is only a pencil, no big deal.” However, the pencil is precious to the child.
Somewhere along the journey of the thief’s life, the pieces of the thief’s habits accumulated enough and it fits into place. The thief lost something precious herself/himself. Life goes, “It is only …., no big deal.”

No one really wants to feel miserable. However, every actions result towards a similar reaction. Like the thief, the habits must be accumulated for the the right time to result in a similar reaction.

Take only what one need, be it small, be it big, does not matter, as long as it is enough for oneself. This alone will give another an opportunity.

Ever cross the mind that most in fields that give them the opportunities to “save” others are actually leveraging on their own “negative” actions only their subconscious mind remembers?

Give those who love LEGOs and find it hard to buy them at full price a chance. Similar to anyone having this opportunity with Michael putting in the effort to give us all here an opportunity to have an affordable deal.

seriously, I was there at store opening time, to get mine, if you want it that badly, “MAKE IT HAPPEN”, it’s a world of survival out there, stop making excuses for your failures.
If you can afford to blow $250 on a kids toy then you can afford $300 from the Lego shop.

Yup it pays not to delay if you really want something. If I can’t make it to the shop immediately I will call and confirm they have the product in stock then get them to hold it for me. What I don’t do is wait until it’s my day off then head down expecting for popular items on sale to still be on the shelves.

Could anything be more sad than grown ups fighting over weather or not they have to share their toys?

The most obvious solution for the PROBLEM would be for the LEGITIMATE retailers to limit the quantity sold per item per person, at least for an initial period (similar to what Lego does now). Obviously there are many other restrictions that could also mitigate over purchasing.

Nobody likes the person who they see walking out of the store with multiples of the same set. If you do this you you should remember you are buying from a retailer not a supplier.

If this behaviour does annoy you, the best thing to do is to let the actual retailers know how you feel so they will impose these limits.
