These Chinese New Year Sets Look Amazing – And They’ll Be Available Here

Two Chinese New Year sets recently surfaced online and they got a lot of people talking. The biggest question was whether or not they are going to be widely available or if they are going to be exclusives. Well the official is answer is that they are going to be exclusive to the Asia Pacific region which does include Australia.

Availability will be limited but LEGO Australia have confirmed that they will be coming to Myer, David Jones, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne, Dreamworld LEGO Store and other specialty toy stores such as Outer Rim Trading Co (who have confirmed they’ve ordered stock). They will also be available at the Australian online store.

These are officially released January 1st 2019.

Here are the two sets…

80101 Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner – $89.99

80101a

The set features 6 minifigures and some amazing decorative elements.

80102 Dragon Dance $79.99

80102a

This set features 5 minifigures and an internal mechanism to make the dragon dance up and down. Lots of fantastic elements in this such as a new heart shaped tile, new printed eye tile and the 3-leaf plant element in gold. It’s a gorgeous set.

On 30th Dec 18, just checked the Lego au site, couldn’t find both sets. Hope they are going to be available online

It’s great that they’re getting a local release. But, there’s no way I’m paying $90 for the dinner set (the only one I’m interested in) – that’s crazy!

I was just organising a friend to ask a friend to buy them in Singapore for me, hoorah!

The real painful bit about their price is that its probably going to be pretty hard to find any stock during a sale, due to these being a scalper’s wet dream.

That hasn’t been announced yet, so I’m not sure what the plans are with that one.

These sets look awesome. I hope the Dragon Boat Racing becomes available too. I probably wouldn’t pick up all the sets just due to the price of them so I’ll have to choose wisely!

    Great news! Everything is awesome!

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone as we welcome in the Year of the Pig on 5 Feb 2019.

I’ve seen it in a LEGO Movie 2 set image. It could be widespread for 2019 sets.

These sets look cool, hopefully they won’t sell out instantly.

I’m really excited for these and happy to hear they will be available to us 😀
    I love the details.

While these sets are gorgeous I am just worried about stock availability on the Lego S@H it seems like just about everything is temporarily out of stock since the change in warehousing. I imagine it will be the same with these sets given their limited regional availability. It feels almost like there is a pressure to make a decision to buy because if you don’t then the stock will be gone! First world problems I know, but problems all the same 🙁

I was in the middle of organising family to buy them now I can relax and try to organise some time off when the sets are due to arrive ?? Need to check when new year will be for 2019. It’s my year (pig) too so good timing for some great sets. The sets were being advertised as preorder in toaboa for about 20% more than our local pricing…

Just checked the lego aus website. Still no available? What’s going on?

I heard that this is not going to be available on Lego AU online anymore, but they will go to retailers like Myer, DJ and Toyworld.
However Lego Dreamworld has received some, and they will do postal orders. I have just ordered one put aside and get them send to VIC, really want the NYE dinner set so not going to risk it if i can secure one now.
Give Dreamworld a call if you really want one.
