January Releases And Promotions

While a heap of new sets were released on Boxing Day, there are over 30 sets that have been made available today including the latest LEGO Modular.

The themes with new sets for 2019 are Overwatch, Creator, Duplo and Speed Champions. The individual Power Functions elements are now available too.

The Chinese New Year sets were meant to be a January 1st release here too but they still haven’t appeared on the website. I’ve reached out to LEGO to find out what is going on with these, but I’m not expecting an immediate response.

You can find a full list of the new release sets at the end of this article but first an interesting new promotion…

Pick your gift with a purchase of $60 or more

From today (January 1st 2019) until January 13th you can get one of these two promotional sets when you spend $60 or more on LEGO products.

At checkout, enter code CTAU for the City Fire ATV or AUFR for Friends Emma’s Bumper Car. I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen the promotional code box being used.

Hi Michael, can you find out if 60239 police car is coming to Australia? I cant find it in the AU store. Thanks

The Chinese New Year sets issue is really frustrating as there is not even an entry on the Aus/NZ S@H store but they have been available in Korea/Singapore/China since 1/1/19. It is like they forgot that Aus/NZ were also included. I just keep stalking the store hoping they will land!

Hi Michael, will you be able to let us know when the Chinese new year sets have arrived?

Hi All, I vented my frustration at LEGO on their Facebook and by way of an update they have advised that the Chinese New Year will not, I repeat not, be sold on Aus/NZ S@H. They are going to limited DJs, Myer and boutique toy retailers. Apparently they are en route and should be in stores some time next week. I say boooo LEGO and if this is how they are going to treat us in the pacific, in conjunction with the insanely limited stock availability in the Aus S@H, I don’t know how much longer I am committing to this brand.

Thank you for finding this out 🙁
I hope they will be available in the myer or dj near me or online, not just the big store like Sydney or Melbourne…

That sucks. I tried reaching out through my contacts and didn’t get a response. I didn’t think to try Facebook. Really disappointed by this and I feel terrible for saying they’d be available online but that was the information I had.

Don’t feel terrible – that was the information that they led everyone to believe through the press releases and facebook announcement. I just cannot understand the decision to have a limited region release and not sell it on the S@H platform; it seems so peculiar! I appreciate that you have a great blog on which to both find information but also share the news.

I just asked through chat and got told the same thing. No date for in store stock just ‘probably soon’. Hope Djs and Myer stock it online as the nearest store is like a 6+ hour round trip 🙁

Chinese New Year sets have landed at LEGO dreamworld but they are selling fast so if you around maybe get them to put one aside. They have limited it to one per person. Good luck! I just secured mine – yay!!
