Today LEGO has officially confirmed the latest addition to the Creator Expert Fairground Collection. Oh, you didn’t realise the Fairground Collection was an official thing? Well that’s the official terminology LEGO are using in their press release now.
Introducing 10273 Haunted House
Coming in at 3231 pieces this set features a fantastic haunted house fairground attraction. This isn’t just a haunted house though – it’s actually a working drop ride. Think Dreamworld’s Giant Drop but on a slightly smaller scale. Out of the box the set is hand powered but it can be upgraded with Power Functions elements if you happen to have them.
The overall design is amazing, modelled on the fictional Manor Von Barron, the spooky home of one of the world’s greatest villains – Samuel Von Barron. There are lots of little ancient Egyptian touches and a fantastic brick built organ.
I also really love that this ride includes a character in a wheelchair, highlighting that unlike other rides this one is wheelchair friendly.
The set is labelled as 18+ and has the more subdued style that LEGO has started using for the 18+ sets such as the Star Wars helmets.
I hope to get my hands on this set soon for a full review, but in the meantime check out the product description and images below.
The set will be released for VIPs on May 20th, with general release on June 1st. Australian RRP is $349.99.

There should be a penalty to LEGO every time they release one of these must have set…my account is once again being drained. On a serious note this is an absolutely must have for me and I am overall thrilled that LEGO is continuing making more sets aimed at AFOL.
I really like this set! It reminds me of the Monster Hunters Haunted House from about 9 years ago, which I hugely regret not getting. My one complaint would be that I wish it had more of a focus on ghosts than themepark visitors, but I should have enough other ghosts from my collection to populate it.
I appreciate that this is an “adult product”, like others released this year, but I’m worried about losing the in-between sets of 12+, 14+ and 16+. I wouldn’t like to see Lego become purely kids and purely adults, because through my teens those middle-ground sets were what attracted me most, and I don’t think I’d have the same relationship with Lego if these types of things didn’t exist.
Hopefully there will still be mid-ground sets from Ideas though, even if Creator Expert and Star Wars UCS move to purely adult sets.
The 18+ thing they are doing I think is a fundamental confusion of what their age ranges are supposed to be. Several reviewers of the helmet series (also 18+) have noted the build is interesting but not super complex. But rather than call them 14+ or 16+ they have made them 18+, seemingly for branding purposes rather than as a true age advisory.
They shouldn’t do that – the age range should be maintained as an indicator of difficulty of a set, and then they can do their branding with the rest of the packaging.
Would this set be available at the lego stores in person on May 20 or just through the online store you think? Looks amazing!
The VIP release will just be online, as Australian stores are all certified stores not official LEGO stores.
