Over 100 sets coming soon – Which ones are you getting?

comingsoon

January 1st will not only bring an end to 2020, it will also see a heap of new LEGO sets released. With over 100 sets listed on the LEGO website as coming soon there is plenty to consider. Will you invest in the new road plate system in LEGO City? Or is the latest modular on your wish list?

Below you’ll find a table of all the coming soon sets with Australian pricing. The catalogue isn’t out yet so we don’t know exactly when these sets will hit stores (hopefully the catalogue will be out early in the new year).

Let me know in the comments what you are planning to get.

  1. Colin Henson says:

Thanks for the list. Any mention of Chinese New Year?

    • Michael says:

Not sure what is happening with those ones. They were up on the site as January 1st, but now they aren’t.

      • Brett says:

I rang Lego Store Broadway, Sydney today and they said they would have the Chinese New Year Sets in Friday. I will check again as I am 2 hours from the store and don’t want to waste a trip. Hopefully they are readily available when released!

  2. MarioR says:

Only one of interest is the Police Station. That looks really nice.
Not sure about the road plate system… doesn’t work for me … maybe in time ????

  3. Todd says:

Shopping Street For $119 looks excessive

    • Chill says:

Agreed, I’d say maybe $79 or $80 max. Hopefully it comes to Big W or Kmart and we can get it on sale.

Thanks for the comprehensive list Michael. I’m keen for the new modular police station. I’m hoping the Labrador pops up in a few more sets, I’m not overly interested in the ‘family house’ set it’s in.

  4. Mike Ryland says:

But disappointed in Technic range, nothing excites me so far. Probably wait for more discounts on the existing range like the Volvo

  5. Brick Chap says:

What is with these prices?! $80 for that Creator beach house??? $33 for Great Vehicles?? Where do they even get these prices??

$120 for shopping street… PLEASE EXPLAIN and $150 for the main street, not quite as outrageous but still ridiculous.

Dont these fools know that theres both a global pandemic and recession currently happening?? Families (at which most of these are targeted) do not have the kind of money to go throwing away for be it one camper van or road plates.

I thought the plates were going to be around $20, $33 for one stretch of road? Jesus Mary and Joseph, Lego had better hope Gina Rinehart is an AFOL because no one else can afford that!

  6. Scott Powell says:

It is sad that new roadplates are so expensive but with the way city prices have been going, it is not really a surprise. Hopefully the main retailers continue to give decent prices compared to the ridiculous prices of the Lego site/retail stores (not that we can go to them anyway right now) and hopefully there’s some actual stock in stores too, it’s been too long since any online retailers have actually had stock of the good or new sets!

  7. Lisa says:

I am slowly getting annoyed at LEGO for not producing something cool and advanced that is geared towards girls without being overly girly.

My daughter finds LEGO friends too pink and girly. Same goes for Disney. Dots is no challenge building. She is just not into vehicles. Minecraft sets are limited in play. We are yet to build he Mario set I got her for Christmas. Fingers crossed.

That does not leave a lot of choice.

Bring back the elves! The dragons had so many technic elements and would prove just perfect for the girls 8+.

Or even more of the creator animals (the dog, monkey etc, I did see the lion).

My son on the other hand: awesome new sets. The fire truck! the car transporter looks like it would offer heaps of play etc etc

Lift your game LEGO! There are girls out there that want more than just to decorate a jewellery box!

  8. Andrew says:

I suspect Lego pricing resilience is fairly elastic at the moment, especially in markets like US and Europe. This’d just be Lego flexing a few muscles to see what the market will really bear. It’s a shame because it’ll mean fewer purchases, at least for me.

As others have said, so long as these sets come to Big W/Target/K Mart we will eventually be able to score discounts.

In terms of my wish list i’m still waiting for several from 2020. I guess the new Technics will be on the list, although there doesn’t appear to be a standout there. I find the Botanicals strangely compelling ;) . Winnie the Pooh can’t be far away either

  9. Mark says:

Thanks for the updated list Michael. All 4 Harry Potter sets for me!

  10. Bright says:

None for the city.. all the sets looks horrible and the price is totally ridiculous. The only possible set I might me interested for modular Police station – don’t get it wrong, I definitely HATE THE MODULAR POLICE STATION – only the positive thing for this set is you can renovate to TV broadcasting station/Newspaper centre……….

  11. Tim says:

    Thanks Michael.
Trouble on Tatooine is my must have – been waiting for a cheaper Mandalorian and Child.
I’ll also pick up the City camper van if I can get it for $20.

  12. Bruce says:

Just the Centaur (Series 21 minifig) ????
