LEGO set challenge of rejecting over 50 Ideas projects

Somebody get a box of red sharpies to Billund on the double – LEGO has some rejecting to do!

LEGO has officially announced that 57 projects will be included in the next review. I can’t see the Ideas team picking more than 3 sets in a review, so this is going to be a bloodbath.

Looking through the projects, which you can do here, I think LEGO has probably pre-rejected a heap of these. Here is my take on all 57 projects.

1. The Princess Bride: The Guilder Frontier by FSLeinad

2. Tutankhamun by Swan Dutchman

Maybe. Probably not but this could be a surprise inclusion.

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas – Halloween Town by Tvrulesmylife

LEGO aren’t going to do this IP in an Ideas set.

4. Hyrule Castle (The Legend of Zelda) by Artem Biziaev

They have rejected previous Zelda sets. This won’t be any different.

5. The Polar Express by Minibrick Productions

6. Steampunk Airship by BrickHammer

7. Baba Yaga by Artem Biziaev

8. The Office by SoGenius106

I don’t think so.

9. LEGO DNA Double Helix Discovery by LegoDNA

10. The X-Files: I Want To Believe by BrentWaller

I want to believe, but I don’t think so.

11. Metroid: Samus Aran’s Gunship by L-DI-EGO

Can’t see this IP getting up.

12. The House of Chocolate by Lepralego

13. Chitty Flies Again! by Norders

Looks fantastic but again, probably not.

14 Among Us: The Skeld Detailed Map by VaderFan2187

Too niche and violent.

15. Welcome to the Black Parade by VNMBricks

Of course not.

16. Succulent Garden by Succulent Joe

No they’ll just release a botanical succulent set.

17. The Village Post Office by Bricked1980

Probably not.

18. Train Bookends by Jimmi-DK

19. LEGO Viking Ship by JonasKramm

Don’t think so.

20. Jazz Quartet by Hsinwei Chi

I hope so. This is fantastic and something different.

21. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Paradise by TiagoCatarino

22. Medieval Marketplace by DominikQN

Maybe, if the Blacksmith has done well.

23. Bike Lanes by MarcelSteeman

24. Working Bowling Alley – With Functional Pinsetter & Ball Return! by LEGOParadise

Maybe. This could be an interesting set and something different.

25. Asterix & Obelix by ZetoVince GP

Don’t think so.

26. LEGO Bookends by farmfarm

This could get up over the train version.

27. The Shire, The Hobbithole of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins by TB Brickcreator

Not going to happen.

28. The King’s Castle by BrickHammer

Another maybe. This could get up over the market.

29. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by FACEBRICKUP

Could be IP issues. It’s possible.

30. The Trulli of Alberobello by Renato Lovicario RennaWSL

31. Ancient Greek Temple by HP_Brixxter

Don’t think so.

32. The Karate Kid “Wax On, Wax Off”by Delusion Brick

Don’t think so.

33. Claus Toys by Bricky_Brick

Can’t see a Christmas set getting up.

34. The Sewing Workshop by Bricky_Brick

35. My LEGO Totoro (Feat. Cat Bus) by legotruman

36. NASA’s SLS & Artemis by Matthew Nolan & Whatsuptoday & Albinolan

Don’t see another NASA set getting up via Ideas.

37. The Lisbon Tram by Bricky_Brick

38. Via Rail Canada – The Canadian by NickLafreniere1

39. Castle of Lord AFOL and the Black Knights by SleeplessNight

There are a few castle builds in this round and they may cancel each other out.

40. SpaceX Starship and Super Heavy (BFR) by haymaw99 & khehmeyer

Elon would love this but I don’t think so.

41. The Simpsons – The Krusty Burger by FastBrickStudios

42. LEGO Modular Expansin Pack by Fargo73

43. 4½-Litre 1927-31 Bentley ‘Blower’ by bencroot19

44. Fantasy Castle by LEGO Monkey

Another castle. They can’t all get up.

45. The Castle of Brickwood Forest by poVoq

Like I just said. Not all of the castles will get up.

46. Violin by SAMUEL HO

Maybe a bit too big.

47. Marine Life by Brick Dangerous

Cute, but no.

48. LEGO Astronaut by legotruman

Don’t think so, but it’s an outside chance.

49. The Office by Lego The Office

Obviously both Office builds won’t get up, they could do a combined Office set. But I think neither will get up.

50. Winter Snow Globes by legotruman

Still don’t think a Christmas set will get up in Ideas.

51. A Map of Middle-Earth by Artem Biziaev

52. Retro Arcade by If You Build It

Don’t think so.

53. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs by Hanwasyellowfirst

Long shot, but maybe.

54. A Nice Day At The Farm by Adri Clo

55. The Forth Bridge by michaeldineen7

Of course not.

56. Scania Next Generation S730 by mpj83

57. Modular Portal Testing Chamber by Angry4rtichoke

    17, 22, 33, 34, 37, 43, 54 I’d buy any of these, plus the two cars. Think I’m stuck on building builds.

None of these really leap out as must-buys, but we’ll have to keep an open mind anyway as there are so many qualifiers. As you say there’ll be two or three selected tops. The Ideas team has been in awesome form of late, I’m sure whatever is selected will be worth getting.

I’m guessing Castle could easily be the subject of next year’s 90th anniversary set, so that probably precludes any of these being selected (and there’s a new Creator 3-in-1 Castle on the way too).

Oh I love all the Castle ones but of course they can’t choose multiple castles so they should just choose number 39. lol. I love the Marine Life & the train bookends. There’s quite a few on the list I like this round. I also love your reviews: “nope”. Haha! Very succinct!

I would love an addition to Blacksmith and/or Sesame St

The Quartet is fantastic and should get up simply on originality…

I agree with you about that a modular expansion pack won’t get up – but I wish they’d do something like this in their own modular line. (I think it’s one reason the Spring Lantern festival set sold so well was it could be used to add diversity and open sa[ce ato a modular town / street).
