Official details of Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block

After posting a teaser online last night LEGO has today opened up their Mario Question Mark Block to reveal the secrets hidden inside… and it’s a microscale recreation of Super Mario 64.

Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block

This 2064 piece set will cost you $289.99 here in Australia when it is released on October 1st.

I know a lot of people have been hanging out for minifigure Mario but it looks like you are going to have to wait a little while longer because this set is all about microscale, with tiny Mario and Princess Peach included. I am a big fan of microscale so I really love this.

The set is designed to appear as a humble question mark block at first glance with a clever mechanism allowing the set to open and reveal the scenes inside. The levels recreated include Peach’s Castle, Bob-omb Battlefield, Cool, Cool Mountain and Lethal Lava Trouble.

No doubt it is clever and that microscale Yoshi is just brilliant (the whole castle is) but it’s a very easy pass. Especially at the price. Both this and the stratocaster are 1/3 too expensive for what you get.

I might bricklink the pieces for Leach’s castle though.

I absolutely adore it! Will definitely be a day 1 purchase for me. Can’t wait to to moc up/see others moc up some of the other SM64 worlds at the same scale.

Kind of annoying that right now, LEGO have a promotion running online to spend $99 on Mario LEGO to get a gold coin, that of course runs out on Sept. 30…
