Bricklink Studio testing NFT features in latest beta release

There’s been a bit of heated discussion on the LEGO Ambassador Network (the forum for LEGO ambassadors) overnight with one LUG ambassador sharing news from the latest Bricklink Studio beta release. What’s the caused the drama? New functionality that will allow you to mint a NFT from within the software directly.

Obviously there are a lot of opinions on NFTs.

I am not part of the beta release but here’s what I know from what has been shared. I also don’t know a lot about NFTs so I’m unsure on some of the technical stuff.

Creating NFTs

The NFT feature is an extension of the render features already present. When you go to mint your MOC it will create a render and then turn that into an NFT. You still get all of the standard render options but apparently the output size is pre-set.

Cost

The ambassador mentioned that the creation of a NFT requires Bricklink Credits. There are no details on how that works.

Buying and Selling

Bricklink will act as the platform for buying and selling these NFTs.

Obviously there are a lot of unknowns still but this could be an interesting development.
