It is time once again to crown two new LEGO Masters. Who will take it out tonight? Let’s find out.
As usual this is a completely free build. 200 people will vote on what they think is best build of the day. Brickman gets 100 votes. It’s very clearly designed so the public won’t overrule Brickman.
There’s 28 hours to build.
Nick and Gene are doing a troll attack. It’s a very traditional sort of story so they are going to need to nail all of the characters to really draw people in and get the votes.
In a shock move Joss and Henry are doing a giant human character that is a pink princess. Kidding they are doing a creature obviously. It’s a kaiju monster versus a mecha crab. Not sure about the crab but their kaiju is going probably going to be awesome.
Alex and Caleb are doing a minifigure village inside a tree. They are setting this at human scale and the minifigures are using human objects for their village. It’s a great way to mix scale in a way that makes sense.
Brickman is concerned that Joss and Henry’s kaiju is too bland in terms of colours. They have gone with dark grey to have the biggest palate of parts available but they need a splash of something to catch your eye.
The tree building is not super exciting but it’s the boring groundwork that needs to be done for their build.
Joss adds a lavender underbelly for their kaiju and it’s the perfect splash of colour. It works great with the grey and teal.
Nick and Gene are doing a heap of landscaping but they really need to get going with building characters.
Caleb is starting to think that perhaps the tree was a bit of a mistake. The canopy is just proving to be an issue.
Hamish has “helped” Joss and Henry by gluing his own hair to a minifigure hair piece. It’s gross.
Nick and Gene are working on their character builds. I worry the scale won’t be impressive enough to catch people.
Alex and Caleb are really having tree issues. Brickman suggests they move on to other elements of their build. I think it’s a good idea. I reckon switch it to being a stump. Minifigures living in an old stump works.
Brickman thinks Nick and Gene really need to make their build more “lush”. The style of trees they have gone with make the scene look a little bare.
There’s one hour to go and teams are getting desperate. The brick pit is getting trashed.
With just a few minutes left to go Caleb decides to add a squirel to their build.
Nick and Gene are tweaking their archer.
Joss and Henry add a channel nine news van.
Lots of last minute tweaks today.
Time’s up. The building for LEGO Masters 2022 is done. Now it’s time to find out who takes home the title.
All three of these finale builds are vastly different but all incredible.
Alex and Caleb
I really love this world. It’s LEGO Movie-esque. The human scale objects scattered throughout the build are really fun. I love this build. The only downside for me is the top of the tree.
Joss and Henry
You can’t say that this is not hugely impressive both visually and technically. The kaiju is massive and imposing. I wasn’t sold on the crab mech but it totally works.
Nick and Gene
Probably my least favourite of today’s three builds. The story is quite clear but overall there is just something missing for me. Perhaps its all just a bit too bland? I can’t really put my finger on it.
Technically it’s fantastic though.
Our past teams and a whole bunch of extra people are back to cast their votes on the winning build.
Caleb rolls out the Brickman impression one last time.
Results
In third place is Nick and Gene. This doesn’t surprise me. They are super talented builders but in the room I think this was the right third place.
The winners of LEGO Masters 2022 are Joss and Henry!
Which means Alex and Caleb are our runners up.
Huge congratulations to Joss and Henry. They were incredible builders all season and that final build was seriously impressive.
I am glad Alex and Caleb came in second, if there was a trophy for most improved they would take it out easily, plus they seemed to generally be having fun, especially these last few episodes. Thanks Michael for the updates 🙂
Great builds all round. Thanks to the all the contestants this year keeping us entertained and inspired for the next 12 months, until we get to do it all again!
Loved it. Thought not eliminating teams every week made it so much better. Most improved were Alex and Caleb and their final build was great fun. Joss and Henry deserved the win but the two other teams were worthy opponents. Enjoyed the recaps too.
Loved this year’s series, some absolutely amazing builds!
On reflection, to me, it appeared that Brickman had to give out more advice to this year’s teams compared with past years, not sure if anyone else feels the same.
Thanks Michael for the great work regarding the Recaps. Cheers
