Vintage video game fan but not interested in the NES? LEGO have just announced a new gaming icon getting the LEGO treatment – The Atari 2600.
The Atari VCS/2600 was introduced in 1977, however this set is based on the four-switch revision which debuted in 1980.
This is one that is before my time so I don’t have that nostalgic connection but I can certainly appreciate the history.
The set contains 2532 pieces that create the console, iconic game cartridges, joystick and even 3D vignettes of the classic 2D games.
You will be able to grab one from 1st August. Australian price is $369.99

Wow, that’s stunning. Needed a double-take to realise it wasn’t the real thing. Just a shame we’re headed into the stratosphere price-wise.
I’m old enough to remember these but we never had one. Now if they did a Commodore 64 I’d think about it…
I wonder who actually buys these sets? I’m old enough to remember the Atari 400 and the 2600 and they were fun. But what’s the attraction of having a brick-built Nintendo, Playstation or Atari Gaming Console. I’m struggling to understand the market for these sets.
