LEGO confirms all new licenced sets to be named by an old guy with limited pop-culture knowledge

Good news for fans of “that 80s time travel movie with Michael J Fox”… LEGO has announced that they are making a Speed Champions scale version of the iconic “Time Machine from Back to the Future”. That is not a joke. That’s the official set name.

77256 Time Machine from Back to the Future

Most people may be tempted to call this set something like “Back to the Future DeLorean” but not LEGO. This is a great sign that they are going to continue the naming trend started with Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship.

I look forward to the LEGO Pokémon line-up including characters like “Pikachu”, “That’s just a turtle” and “Fire Lizard”.

In fact I think LEGO should go back and rename some of their other sets…

Adventures with Interactive LEGO® Luigi™ Green Mario

Game Boy™ Old Nintendo

The Lord of the Rings: The Shire™ That place in New Zealand your cousin went to last year

Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale Dragon from that dice game the nerds play

Let me know in the comments some other sets LEGO should rename to be more descriptive.
