You can put LEGO on your pants now

lego-x-levis-yellow-with-logos

Today LEGO and Levi’s have officially revealed the details of their collaboration. It’s weird and a bit unexpected. Is it also great? It’s probably not for me. But you might love it. Here’s the details.

The new collaboration features a range of classic Levi’s products, all with soft rubber LEGO panels attached. The panels are made of the same material as the DOTS bands. I found the bands to have really good clutch power despite being soft and flexible so your custom designed clothes should be safe.

Here is the items that will have the LEGO panel sewn in: a vintage stonewash Levi’s® Trucker Jacket, a Dad Crop Trucker Jacket, 501® ’93 Straight Jeans, and a lineup of hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts, and accessories. Customisation pieces from the collection will come with a Levi’s® and LEGO Group branded bag of 110 LEGO® DOTS, so that fans have a playful canvas for self-expression with endless options.

If the idea of having actual LEGO on your clothes isn’t your thing, there will also be a number of graphic tees released too.

Here are the Australian prices for the range. It’s certainly not cheap.

Charlestown Square LEGO Store Opens Tomorrow

Great news for LEGO fans in the Newcastle area – the Charlestown Square LEGO Store officially opens its doors tomorrow morning at 9am.

Of course the world is a lot different now so the store will be taking all of the required precautions with the opening. Don’t except a huge crowd rushing in to the store at 9am. When you arrive at the store there will be a QR code for you to scan so that you can join a virtual queue. You will then be notified by text when it is time to make your way back to the store. Shoppers are also asked to please remember to practice social distancing by keeping 1.5m from others and use the hand sanitiser provided. Masks must also be worn when in store.

If you get to the store tomorrow I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Review: 10270 Creator Expert Bookshop

On January 1st LEGO officially released the latest modular building – 10270 Bookshop. Today I will be having a look at this beautiful addition to the modular collection.

Despite only being a few months old the Bookshop feels like it belongs to a different era. Enter a world where you can casually browse a bookstore without worrying about social distancing and how many people can fit inside based on how many square metres it is.

Like 10218 Pet Shop before it the Bookshop is a split modular, meaning that you get two smaller buildings rather than the single 32×32 build. I really like split modulars as they give you a lot of flexibility in your modular layout, assuming of course that you’ve already got a few of them.

Infinity War BrickHeadz Pictures

With Marvel’s Infinity War out next month we already have the tie-in sets on local shelves, but there are also a range of BrickHeadz coming out too.

Thanks to Promobricks we now have our first look a the lineup. With so many characters in the film not everybody is going to get a set but I think the lineup is pretty good.

Latest LEGO Ideas Review Results – Two Sets Pass Review

The LEGO Ideas team have just shared the results of the third 2015 project review, and this time there are two models that will be hitting shelves as an actual LEGO set…

The Beatles Yellow Submarine

it was hard to see how the licensing for this one was going to work out, and it passing review is a bit of a surprise.

LEGO Ideas Beatles Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine is a classic part of Beatles history and project creator Kevin Szeto has done a great job of rendering it with bricks. The final set should also included the band as LEGO Minifigures.

Apollo 11 Saturn V

LEGO and NASA have worked together in the past, so this set passing review isn’t a huge surprise. The only thing going against it was size – the model is around one meter tall. This could be one of the largest Ideas sets to date when it’s released.

LEGO Dimensions Series 2 Details

The official details are still a few hours away, but images of at least some of the next series of LEGO Dimensions sets have surfaced online.

The lineup includes an interesting mix of characters, from Adventure Time to The A-Team. Here are the details of what has been discovered. Click on an image to see a larger version.

71242 Ghostubsters Story Pack

A new feature of Dimensions Series 2 seems to be at least one “Story Pack”. Based on the wording of the box, a Story Pack contains an entire story – in this case the new Ghostbusters film. This seems more substantial than a Level Pack, so expect it to cost more too. Includes Abby Yates, the new Ecto-1 and the Chinese Restaurant setting from the film.
