LEGO Announces 21320 Dinosaur Fossils

There are times when a LEGO Ideas project passes review and then I completely forget about it. That is what happened with the dinosaur fossil project that passed review back in May this year. Today, LEGO has officially announced the final version.

Introducing 21320 Dinosaur Fossils

The set looks quite a bit different to the original project but I absolutely love the direction they have taken it. The three builds all look fantastic – particularly that T-Rex. This is a brilliant display piece that could easily exist outside a LEGO room. I reckon that I could even get away with having it on my desk at work.

The set features 910 pieces and will cost $99.99 here in Australia. You’ll be able to get yours from November 1st at LEGO.com

April’s New Sets & Promotions

This April there are quite a few exciting new product launches.

Star Wars fans will be excited to see the release of the 20th anniversary sets, as well as a few others. With Endgame hitting cinema this month we’ve also got the new Avengers sets released. Last but not least is the release of Steamboat Willie. Interestingly all of these sets are actually Disney sets.

I’ve done a quick look around at pricing for these sets, but if you are interest in the current promotions then you’ll need to go for the LEGO Online option. At the time of publication I can’t find any of these sets on the Big W website. The Amazon pricing is also likely to change.

The Latest LEGO Ideas Review Results – Two Sets Pass

While we are still discussing our thoughts on The Flintstones Ideas set, LEGO has been hard at work on the next review.

In a bit of a surprise two sets have made it through the review and will become official LEGO sets at some point in the future.

Here’s a quick recap of the projects that were in the review…

Here are the results…

21316 The Flintstones Officially Announced

This September will be 59 years since the first episode of The Flintstones premiered. That may make it sound like an odd choice for a LEGO set, but for a lot of people The Flintstones remains a huge part of pop culture.

Today, LEGO have officially revealed the details of 21316 The Flintstones, the latest LEGO Ideas set.

The set features 748 pieces and will cost $99.99 here in Australia. VIP release is Wednesday February 20th and regular release should be March 1st.

I think the designers have done a great job with the car and house but this set doesn’t grab me personally. Let me know in the comments what you think of it.

Check out the full gallery of images below as well as the official press release.

21315 Pop Up Book Announced

LEGO Ideas can be a bit of a weird place sometimes with a lot of projects taking advantage of existing IPs to help get them the 10k votes needed. Occasionally though an interesting and unique project will make it’s way through to not only get the required votes but to also pass review. That’s exactly what we have here with 21315 Pop Up Book.

This brick build LEGO book may look unassuming from the outside, but open it up and you get to experience two iconic children’s stories presented with detailed pop-ups.

The first of the two stories is Little Red Riding Hood. This build features a detailed house and three minifigures; Grandma, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. The house itself looks fantastic and the Wolf minifigure is outstanding.

The second of the included stories is Jack and the Beanstalk. Another absolute classic.

This build features a microscale village, towering beanstalk and a castle for the giant. The giant is presented as a standard minifigure while Jack is a microfig. I think using the microfig for Jack is a great idea.

The printing on the giant features key parts of the story with the goose and a golden egg both tucked in his pockets.

The set features 859 parts, allowing you to create the book and both scenes. Obviously only one scene can be placed in the book at a time but you can have both built – the scenes are designed to be easily swapped out. You can also build your own scenes to place in the book.

The set will cost $109.99 here in Australia and will be available from November 1st.

Let me know what you think? I am really impressed with this and think it looks better than the original submission. I think I prefer the Red Riding Hood scene over the Jack and the beanstalk, but both are great.

Australian Price For 21310 Old Fishing Store

The product page for 21310 Old Fishing Store is now up on LEGO’s Australian store, which means we now that the Australian RRP will be $249.99.

Old Fishing Store Australian RRP

How does the price compare to your expectations? It seems quite high for a LEGO Ideas set, but the part count is 2049. That works out to $0.12 per part, which is in line with other Ideas sets (the Saturn V is actually cheap at $0.09 per part).

Let me know in the comments what you think of the price and if you’ll be picking this up or not.

The Latest LEGO Ideas Review – No New Products

The latest LEGO Ideas review results are in and they are going to be very disappointing for everybody who supported a project in the review round.

LEGO has made the decision to pass on all of the projects that were in the review. That means of the 14 projects in review, 13 were rejected and one has been passed to the next review period. LEGO have explained their decision in a video (see below).

Australian Price For 75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters

When the official pictures of the Ghostbusters HQ appeared online this morning the first thing I checked was if the product was listed on the Australian online store. Either I missed it or LEGO have put it online in the time it took me to get to work. Either way we now have an Australian price.

75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters will cost $499.99 in Australia.

It’s interesting to note that this is marked as an Ideas set. Up until now we didn’t know whether this would be under the Ideas theme or not.

We got a glimpse of the TARDIS exterior yesterday and today we are taking a look at the inside. LEGO have released this picture of the console that will be part of the set. So far this set looks great inside and out. Hopefully we get an official announcement soon.
