Victoria to get it’s third LEGO store

While Victorians have been having a difficult time with COVID lockdowns, things aren’t all bad… you’ll soon have a third LEGO store to hit up later this year.

The new store will be out to the West at Highpoint Shopping Centre.

LEGO Certified Store coming to South Australia

Despite the fact that some South Australians insist on pronouncing LEGO weirdly (Lay-go? What?) Alceon have decided that Westfield Marion will be the location of the next LEGO Certified store.

Opening some time “in the coming weeks” the store will be the first in South Australia.

While this is great news for our South Australian readers hopefully it’s a sign that more stores may start opening in other areas like Perth and Canberra.

Check out the official press release below, and if any South Australian readers spot hoardings up at Westfield Marion send me through a pic!

Charlestown Square LEGO Store Opens Tomorrow

Great news for LEGO fans in the Newcastle area – the Charlestown Square LEGO Store officially opens its doors tomorrow morning at 9am.

Of course the world is a lot different now so the store will be taking all of the required precautions with the opening. Don’t except a huge crowd rushing in to the store at 9am. When you arrive at the store there will be a QR code for you to scan so that you can join a virtual queue. You will then be notified by text when it is time to make your way back to the store. Shoppers are also asked to please remember to practice social distancing by keeping 1.5m from others and use the hand sanitiser provided. Masks must also be worn when in store.

If you get to the store tomorrow I’d love to hear your thoughts.

New LEGO Certified Store Coming To Charlestown NSW

I have just spotted a very interesting LEGO related job listing on Seek – A store manager for the Charlestown Shopping Centre LEGO Certified Store.

LCS Charlestown

I don’t know a lot about Charlestown, New South Wales so I can’t tell you if it’s a good location for a LEGO store or not. Hopefully some readers can fill me in on that part of the country.

The job listing specifically mentions an August start date so it seems New South Wales’ latest LCS isn’t too far off.

If you happen to live in that part of the state and are looking for a retail job you can find out more about the position here.

Hopefully the Alceon team can provide some more information about the store soon.

Robina LEGO Certified Store To Open This Saturday

The Gold Coast’s second LEGO store will officially open this Saturday!

The new store at Robina Town Centre will let it’s first customers through the door at 9am on Saturday September 28th. You can find more details of the event here.

Spend $199 or more on the day to receive a special gift with purchase. Not sure what the set is but I’d expect it to be the same promotional set as other store openings (40145 LEGO Brand Retail Store)

Alceon Announces Location of Two Queensland Stores

Here’s some exciting news for those of us in South East Queensland – the location of Alceon’s first two Queensland stores.

The locations are… QIC Robina and Westfield Chermside.

It will be interesting to see how the Robina store does, being fairly close to the Dreamworld store.

Chermside will provide a good option of Brisbanites on the North side of town.

More information as we get closer to the opening.

Here’s the official announcement:

Alceon Group today announced it will open two new LEGO® Certified Stores in Queensland in 2019, with new stores in both QIC Robina and Westfield Chermside.
Commenting Richard Facioni, Executive Director, Alceon Group, said: “The opening of two LEGO Certified Stores in Queensland over two consecutive months speaks to our local ambition for this leading global retail concept.
“We are confident that brick fans of all ages will enjoy these new world class retail experiences, with signature features that are a tribute to creativity and innovation.”
The new LEGO Certified Stores have secured prime positioning at QIC Robina and Westfield Chermside, occupying 188sqm and 236sqm respectively. Both stores incorporate many custom built design features including brick built mosaics and 3D models of local icons.
Supporting imagination is a central premise of the stores with many hands-on, interactive brick experiences. Key store elements include world-famous LEGO ‘Pick a Brick’ Walls, Build-Your-Own MinifigureTM stations and custom LEGO® brick engraving.
The two new Queensland LEGO Certified Stores will become part of a global set of inspiring LEGO retail experiences, with other iconic stores operating worldwide from London to New York and Shanghai.
Mr Facioni continues: “Our two landmark LEGO Certified Stores in Queensland will attract both local and international visitors as we unveil fun and inspiring retail environments that showcase the creative potential of the world famous LEGO brick.”
In March 2019 Alceon, a leading retail investment group, unveiled Sydney’s first
LEGO® Certified Store at Westfield Bondi Junction as part of a new partnership with
The LEGO® Group, with Alceon acquiring rights to open new LEGO® Certified Stores across Australia and New Zealand.

Hoarding Up At Doncaster LEGO Store

We’ve known for a while that a LEGO Certified Store was coming to Melbourne but now we have photographic evidence that work is in progress.

This shot of the hoarding up at Doncaster comes from Bricking Around reader Alvin.

doncaster-hoardings

Those of you familiar with Doncaster, the store will be located on Level 1, near the Apple Store.

No details on an opening date yet but it can’t be that far off.

If you spot something similar in Brisbane or the Gold Coast let me know!

Free LEGO Picnic Blanket With Orders Over $249

This one is not going to be a hit with everybody, but I think it’s pretty cool.

Spend over $249 on LEGO and you’ll get a free LEGO branded picnic blanket.

This offer ends August 25th. According to the site the Tote Bag offer is still live until the 14th so if you order today or tomorrow you may get both.

You can view the terms of the offer here.

I think it’s interesting that LEGO is dabbling in the lifestyle type promotional items a little more. Let me know what you think.

Coles To Roll Out In-Store LEGO Zones – Including Pick-a-brick

If you are regular user of Flybuys you may have spotted an interesting offer recently – 700 bonus points when you purchase The LEGO Movie 2 sets. It seemed like a weird offer from Coles because they aren’t known as a LEGO retailer. Well the news that I received over the weekend helps explain the promotion.

UPDATE: Sorry everybody! Unfortunately this is an April Fool’s Day post. It would be great if it was true though. I’ve had to pull the plug on this a little early because apparently Coles has been getting calls about this.

coles-storefront

Coles is going to be rolling out special LEGO Zones nationwide. The LEGO Zones will form a small section of the store and offer a limited selection of LEGO products and most interestingly a Pick-a-brick experience.

Unfortunately this is not every store. The LEGO Zones will be taking the place of Coles Mix clothing sections (which is going online only). You can see a list of stores that currently stock the Mix range here.

The LEGO Zones won’t be opening until the second half of 2019 so there are still plenty of details we don’t know, such as pricing or selection for the PaB offering.

Here’s what Coles had to say about the plans:

The success of our Coles Little Shop™ and Coles Fresh Stikeez™ promotions has shown us that families are always looking for ways to add a sense of fun to their grocery shopping trips. This new partnership with The LEGO Group will give LEGO™ fans young and old a chance to purchase a great range of sets in-store. The in-store pick-a-brick experience is sure to be another popular addition.

Stores have started stocking an improved range of LEGO™ sets now with the new LEGO Zones to roll out in the second half of 2019. We can’t wait to share more details with our customers soon.

For those of you already looking for some LEGO™ fun we are currently offering a great flybuys promotion on The LEGO Movie 2 sets, with 700 bonus points available.
